Preakness 2016: Final Results, Standings, Payouts and Replay Highlights
After coming up short in the Kentucky Derby, Exaggerator pulled off an upset Saturday at Pimlico Race Course and beat out Nyquist to win the 141st Preakness Stakes.
The Keith Desormeaux-trained colt handed Nyquist his first defeat in nine career races by virtue of a remarkable late push.
NBC Sports shared the replay:

| Show | Nyquist | 3 | $2.20 |
Exaggerator fell to Nyquist in his four previous attempts, but he showed perseverance that few Kentucky Derby second-place finishers had previously demonstrated, according to ESPN Stats & Info:
Much like in the Derby, Exaggerator sat off the pace and made a late move to put pressure on Nyquist. Although it didn't work at Churchill Downs, jockey Kent Desormeaux pulled the right strings Saturday.
Nyquist set a blistering pace in part because he had to hold off Uncle Lino for much of the race. Per KY Derby Contenders, Desormeaux felt as though that worked to his advantage:
A late switch of lanes by jockey Mario Gutierrez may have sealed Nyquist's fate, but Andy Serling of the New York Racing Association didn't believe it took away from the horse's performance:
The Preakness win marked the third of Kent Desormeaux's career, but it was the first for his brother as a trainer.
Katherine Terrell of the New Orleans Times-Picayune pointed out that Keith waited a long time for such an opportunity:
While there will be no Triple Crown winner this year after American Pharoah's triumph in 2015, the stage is set for a potential rubber match between Exaggerator and Nyquist at the Belmont Stakes.
On the NBC broadcast, Keith Desormeaux made it clear that he intends to enter Exaggerator into the race, while Nyquist trainer Doug O'Neill was optimistic about doing the same.
Horse racing has produced some of the all-time greatest rivalries in sports, and while there hasn't been a notable one in years, the Preakness Stakes may have changed that.
Both Exaggerator and Nyquist proved to be spectacular horses at Pimlico, and if they both run in the Belmont, there will still be plenty of intrigue surrounding the third leg of the Triple Crown on June 11.
