Aulas Comments on Lacazette's Future
Saturday, May 21
"For a sale to be made, all three parties must agree. We have refused several offers, the most important from West Ham [United] for 40m euros and we refused it," said Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, per French daily Le Progres (via Mark Ashenden of Sky Sports).
Aulas continued:
"It is an answer that says I want to keep him, but I'm not sure because ultimately it is he who will decide.
I do not want on August 28, ahead of the Champions League, to find ourselves in the same situation as Monaco [who sold Anthony Martial to Manchester United last summer].
Ideally, he will stay. If he has an offer that he can't refuse then it will come through me, and that's it.
"
The Sun's Andrew Dillon reported on May 17 that Premier League outfit West Ham United saw a club-record bid for Lacazette, worth £31 million, turned down by Lyon.
Lacazette's PSG Move 'Not Impossible'
Thursday, May 19
Benoit Lacazette, brother to Lyon forward Alexandre, spoke to French newspaper Le Parisien on Thursday and revealed his sibling is listening to offers (h/t ESPN FC's Mark Rodden):
"Until the end of May, we're letting interested French or foreign clubs contact Alexandre's agent.
He doesn't want to leave for the sake of it. He'll position himself when he's finished with Les Bleus [France]. Everything depends on who the coach is and what the project is.
Paris already showed themselves last year. With the departure of Zlatan [Ibrahimovic], they're looking to strengthen this area.
It's not impossible that Alexandre might go there but it's not a certainty. We're not closing any door. For the moment, we're watching.
"
The assertion that Ibrahimovic's exit from Parc des Princes changes matters is a fair one, with PSG manager Laurent Blanc undoubtedly on the lookout for a talent to replace his attacking hero.
Bleacher Report's Andrew Gibney provided further details on the matter:
According to French outlet L'Equipe (h/t Rodden), PSG want Edinson Cavani to shift into the central attacking reserve and will look to field Lacazette out wide, but the France striker may not be content playing out of position in the capital.
The 24-year-old recovered from a poor start to the season to net 21 goals in 34 Ligue 1 outings this term, and Lacazette's suitors can take heart in the knowledge their target could be open to change this summer.
