Manchester United Transfer News: Leroy Sane Battle with City, Neymar Rumours
Manchester United will face serious competition from rivals Manchester City in the race to sign Schalke 04's Leroy Sane this summer, and their chances of recruiting Barcelona star Neymar are also set to plummet.
The Daily Star's Jeremy Cross has reported City are "ready to hijack" the Red Devils' move for Sane, who has propelled himself into the spotlight following a breakout campaign at the Veltins-Arena.

Pep Guardiola will arrive at the Etihad Stadium this summer, and it's claimed he's eager to meet up with Sane when he joins the Citizens, but Schalke are seeking £40 million for the 20-year-old.
It doesn't help United's cause that City's interest in Sane isn't fresh, either, according to James Robson of the Manchester Evening News:
The Red Devils attack is in major need of an upheaval after seeing captain Wayne Rooney's season interrupted by injury, leaving the club's youngsters to hold up the offensive responsibilities.
While Sane wouldn't do much to boost the average age at Old Trafford, he has proved himself as something of a unique talent in the Bundesliga, per the division's official Twitter account:
Sane earned his first senior cap for Germany in 2015 and has been included in manager Joachim Low's provisional squad for UEFA Euro 2016, a sign as to just how much quality the youngster possesses.
United manager Louis van Gaal has struggled to consistently squeeze solid form from Memphis Depay and Juan Mata out wide this season, and Sane could inject a great deal of energy on the wings.

United have also been hit with the news that Barcelona are hoping to announce Neymar's contract extension after the Copa del Rey final against Sevilla on Sunday, per Catalunya Radio show El Club de la Mitjanit (h/t Sport).
The Red Devils will be saddened to hear the extension is close to materialising after Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo reported his new deal would come with a €220 million (£172 million) release clause, per Total Barca:
Even for a club of United's stature, the price of the deal—combined with the fact the English giants can no longer offer UEFA Champions League football—means any hopes of a summer transfer may be off the table.
Joe Short of the Daily Express reported the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Mauro Icardi may be more realistic targets for Van Gaal's side, who look set to be disappointed by Barcelona's latest deal.
