IPL Results 2016: Supergiants vs. Daredevils Score, Updated Table, T20 Fixtures
Rising Pune Supergiants landed a major blow to the play-off hopes of the Delhi Daredevils, as they secured a comfortable 19-run win via Duckworth-Lewis in a rain-interrupted clash on Tuesday.
Batting first, Delhi lost early wickets and were troubled terribly by the bowling of Ashok Dinda and Adam Zampa, who shared six wickets between them. That meant a target of 121 for six for Rising Pune, who made 76 for one thanks to 42 from Ajinkya Rahane; when rain ended the game in the 11th over, they were 19 ahead of the par score of 57.
Here is a look at how things are shaping up in the IPL after this important win for the Supergiants and a more detailed recap of this contest.

Rising Pune Supergiants vs. Delhi Daredevils
Rising Pune, 76 for one (11 overs, Rahane 42*, Morris 1 for 12) beat Delhi, 121 for six (Nair 41, Dinda 3 for 20) by 19 runs via D/L
Throughout this tournament, the performances of Quinton de Kock at the top of the order have so often been a barometer for how the Daredevils would perform with the bat. So when the wicket-keeper fell for just a couple in the third over, there would have been concerns in the Delhi dugout.
As we can see here, courtesy of The Cricket Prof. account, it seems the South African is at his best when his team is chasing:
Shreyas Iyer followed for just eight not long after, with Dinda accounting for both openers with some superb quick bowling. Rising Pune kept the pressure on well, too, with Sanju Samson unable to find his rhythm in a stodgy 10 from 13 balls; he lost his patience and was stumped by MS Dhoni following good work from Zampa.
With scoring clearly difficult going on this pitch, Delhi needed someone to grind out an innings, and thankfully, Karun Nair obliged.
It may not have been the most aesthetic knock, but with Rishabh Pant falling for just four, Nair at least ensured a three-figure total was put on the board, battling to 41 from 43 balls before he was dismissed in the 15th over.

Chris Morris was eventually the man who helped push Delhi to more than a run a ball. He added a late flourish to the innings, finishing unbeaten on 38 from just 20 balls. Still, with Zampa and Dinda at their best, 121 for six was a reachable target. The former, per cricket statistician Mohandas Menon, has been especially impressive this term:
In response, Usman Khawaja clearly had ideas of ending this one quickly, as he came out swinging to put on 19 from 13 balls. After he departed, the rate was very healthy, although rain did threaten to bring this match to a premature close with the Rising Pune scorecard reading 57 for one.
The break allowed the tournament’s official Twitter feed to reflect on a bizarre incident earlier in the day when a dog entered the field of play:
The game did get back underway, with Rahane and George Bailey moving the run chase along with ease. However, with just 46 runs needed from the last 56 balls, the heavens opened again. It was a delay that meant overs would be lost, and sat on 76 for one, Rising Pune were well ahead of the Duckworth-Lewis par score of 57.

Not long after the second rain delay, the umpires decided to call the contest off, handing the Supergiants a 19-run win. Rahane, who struck two superb boundaries in the 11th, finished unmoved on 42 from 36 balls.
"Fast bowlers bowled well, they give a platform for the spinners," said a delighted Dhoni afterwards, per ESPNcricinfo. "It's good to see them bowl as a unit together. And a bit of luck. Followed by some good rain!"
This defeat leaves Delhi needing to beat two quality outfits—Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore—if they’re to secure a top-four berth. Qualifying is beyond the Supergiants, although they’ll be desperate to end their debut campaign in the IPL on a high.
