Leicester City Parade 2016: Twitter Reaction, Photos, Videos, GIFs and More

Christopher SimpsonMay 16, 2016

The Foxes secured the title on May 2, when Tottenham Hotspur failed to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and they lifted the trophy the following Saturday at home to Everton, completing one of the greatest underdog stories in the history of football, if not sport as a whole.

With the season having finished on Sunday, it was finally time for the club to parade a trophy they were 5,000-1 to win at the start of the campaign.

The Mirror's Martin Fricker was there to witness the scenes:

The bus tour set off from Jubilee Square at 6 p.m. BST and ended at Victoria Park, where the players took to the stage in front of the crowd.

Sky Sports News HQ followed the bus as it made its way across the city to the rapturous applause of the fans:

Per BBC Sport, the club's triumph still hasn't sunk in for Jamie Vardy, whose 24 league goals proved so vital to the team's success:

Per the Mirror's Ben Burrows, Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri thanked the fans for their support: "This is something very special. We played with heart and soul and the people understand this. It’s unbelievable. I can only say thank you to all the people!"

Midfielder Marc Albrighton was similarly blown away by the atmosphere and what the team had achieved, per Sky Sports News HQ:

Leonardo Ulloa was most often used from the bench this season as a replacement for Shinji Okazaki, but the Argentinian nevertheless played a vital role in securing the title for the Foxes—particularly when he came in for the suspended Vardy and netted twice to help beat Swansea City in April.

Per Burrows, he reflected on the stunning scenes: "It’s amazing. I never thought I’d see so many people here! This city has to enjoy this! Seeing 250,000 people is incredible. This title has made everyone so happy—we and everyone here need to enjoy this."

Christian Fuchs, a new arrival at the King Power Stadium last summer, won over many fans in the east Midlands this season thanks to his assured play in defence. The experienced left-back shared his thoughts with Sky Sports News HQ:

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and midfielder Andy King took to social media after the celebrations:

Next season, the Foxes will take to the field as defending champions, and the club also has the glamour and riches of the UEFA Champions League to look forward to for the first time.

It will be intriguing to see how Ranieri and the players cope with the dual challenges of competing in the Premier League and going as far as possible in Europe, as well as their transfer activity this summer.

For now, a time of celebration is at hand, and for all those involved—players, staff and fans alike—the memories are sure to last a lifetime.
