IPL Results 2016: Scores, Points Table, Schedule After Latest T20 Fixtures
Royal Challengers Bangalore produced a batting masterclass to dispose of Gujarat Lions in Saturday’s early Indian Premier League game, as Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers ran riot with a record-breaking partnership.
The pair chalked up emphatic centuries apiece to give RCB a huge advantage at 248 for three after 20 overs, and the Lions could only respond with a feeble 104 all out when they took to the crease.
Two richly deserved points send Bangalore up to 10 points in the IPL standings and keeps their hopes of reaching the play-offs very much alive. In Saturday's other match, Kolkata Knight Riders cruised to a win over Rising Pune Supergiants in a rain-shortened contest.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Rising Pune Supergiants
KKR (66/2) bt. RPS (103/6) by eight wickets (with 24 balls remaining) ( D/L method)
Supergiants won the toss and elected to bat, expecting the wicket to slow down during the match, with the forecast also calling for rain. Kolkata’s bowlers got the inning off to a superb start, however, taking the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane (two from six) in the third over.
Knight Riders’ bowlers have excelled at limiting runs all season long, and things weren’t any different on Saturday. Usman Khawaja (21 from 17) and George Bailey (33 from 27) found some success, but neither lasted past the 11th over, and none of the other batsmen would add more than 13 runs to the total.

To make matters worse, the match was halted in the 18th over, with the rain coming down hard, and the decision was made to go to limited overs after a lengthy delay, which benefited Kolkata.
Piyush Chawla led Knight Riders’ bowlers with figures of two-21, while Sunil Narine gave up just 10 runs through 3.4 overs.
Kolkata had nine overs to reach a target of 66 and win via D/L method, but their innings started in disastrous fashion, as Robin Uthappa (four from one) and Gautham Gambhir (duck) were both dismissed after just three balls. Cricket writer Ayaz Memon thought things suddenly seemed a lot tougher for the hosts:
But Yusuf Pathan (37 from 18) and Manish Pandey (15 from 10) picked up the slack, and after four overs, Knight Riders had already scored 57. Pathan eventually scored the winning run with a bye on the final delivery of the fifth over.
Kolkata reclaim the top spot in the standings with the win, and the team remains among the favourites to win this year's title.
Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Gujarat Lions
RCB (248-3) bt. GL (104 all out) by 144 runs

Gujarat Lions won the toss and elected to bowl in Bengaluru on Saturday, and when they took out danger-man Chris Gayle in the fourth over, the plan looked to have worked perfectly.
A slower delivery from Dhawal Kulkarni came off the West Indian’s inside edge and just clipped the leg stump to send him packing.
However, it was very much a blessing in disguise for RCB, as De Villiers entered the arena and kicked off arguably the greatest batting display in IPL history.
The Gujarat bowlers simply didn’t know how to cope with Kohli and De Villiers, as everything they chucked at the pair just ended up at the boundary.
Spectators turned to fielders and fielders turned to spectators, and it wasn’t long before the records started to tumble.
Kohli’s wicket eventually fell when Dwayne Bravo brilliantly caught him off a Praveen Kumar delivery, but the damage was well and truly done.
As Ladbrokes revealed, the partnership of 238 from just 108 balls was the highest in Twenty20 cricket history:
Kohli now has three centuries in IPL 2016, and his level of consistency has been nothing short of exemplary this season.
Naturally, the cricket world was singing the pair’s praises, including Aussie David Warner, who labelled them the best in the business:
The innings was truly magnificent to watch and more than worthy of winning any cricket match.
RCB closed at 248 for three, which left Gujarat Lions with more than a mountain to climb when they took to the crease.
And, in truth, it was a mountain they never looked like scaling.
Chris Jordan and Yuzvendra Chahal ripped through the Gujarat order, with only Ravindra Jadeja and Aaron Finch posting scores over 20.

Sachin Baby took the wickets of Finch and Shivil Kaushik to bring the curtain down on the match with the Lions on 104 and with more than one over left to play.
The 144-run victory was nothing more than RCB deserved, as everything just worked for them on the day.
RCB take on the Kolkata Knight Riders when they return to IPL action on Monday, and they’ll be looking to gather some momentum ahead of the all-important run-in.
And if Kohli and De Villiers show this kind of brilliance at Eden Gardens, then Bangalore will surge towards the play-offs.
