Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Rumours, Major Stars Eyed by Jurgen Klopp's Reds
Liverpool have reportedly been given the green light to hold talks with Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda about a potential transfer to Anfield but only after the Coupe de France final on May 21.
The 31-year-old’s contract expires at the end of June, which means he’ll be available on a free transfer if the Ligue 1 side decide against renewing his deal.
And although Mandanda’s agent Stephane Courbis revealed his client will discuss terms with Marseille, he also said he’ll talk to other interested parties after the cup final showdown with Paris Saint-Germain—per Italian outlet Tuttomercato (via Charlie Phillippe of Daily Express):

"After May 21 we will talk with Marseille and the other interested clubs. Until then, we are focused only on winning the Coupe de France."
Mandanda has been in excellent form this season, keeping nine clean sheets in Ligue 1 and making some sensational saves along the way. Here’s a look at what the goalkeeper could bring to Anfield:
It’s his instinctive shot-stopping ability that’s got Liverpool interested in his signature, especially since current No. 1 Simon Mignolet is showing very few signs of improving his shaky form.
Phillippe wrote that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp still has doubts over the Belgian, and even though he recently signed a five-year deal on Merseyside, Mignolet could find himself on the Liverpool bench if Mandanda heads to Anfield.
Elsewhere, the Reds will face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea in their bid to land Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze.
According to Phil Cadden of the Sun, incoming Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti has told his former employers at Stamford Bridge that they can have Gotze for £35 million, as he’s not in his plans at the Allianz Arena.

Liverpool can afford to match that fee, and they’ll hope that Gotze’s relationship with Klopp will see him choose Merseyside over London.
And if the Reds find a way past Sevilla in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday, they’ll be able to offer something that Chelsea can’t: UEFA Champions League football.
Klopp has had to deal with limited resources at Anfield since taking his post, but he’s done a very good job with all things considered.
A few choice additions in the transfer window will give the German boss the platform from which to build and mount a serious charge for the Premier League title.
