The club announced the news at Guus Hiddink's press conference on Friday, while ESPN FC's Liam Twomey supplied further details:

Interim manager Hiddink lauded the 35-year-old as a legend at the club:
Terry's current deal expires this summer, and it looked as though time had been called on the defender's 21-year association with the club.
Eden Hazard's future has also been the subject of speculation after a difficult season, but the Dutchman suggested he will be staying put:
The Belgian has fallen well below his usual standard this year, but in recent weeks he has played his way back into form to finish the campaign strongly. Hiddink commented on the 25-year-old's improvement of late:
The Dutchman would not be drawn on possible new signings to be made under incoming boss Antonio Conte this summer, though, per Dimitri Kondonis of GetWestLondon: "It’s up to the new management and directors. I didn’t want to interfere too much—they can make their own judgement. They have looked and analysed the situation at the club—they will make their approach and measurements. It’s up to them."

Sunday's match with Premier League champions Leicester City will be Hiddink's final game in charge of Chelsea, bringing to an end his second spell with the club.
Per Kondonis, the 69-year-old revealed he is proud of what the team have accomplished under him given where they were when he took over:
"My recent memory of playing at Anfield was a pleasant memory—we played as I love them to play, except the 92nd minute.
That’s how Chelsea should play. We managed to play as we like to play.
What I like very much, I spoke to the players in December, was not to look back—look forward. Look back, maybe to what you have not brought to the team—I said I didn’t want the answers right away, I wanted them on the pitch.
I can be satisfied with how the team reacted.
Of course, I would have loved once we escaped from danger to go into an FA Cup final, another one or two more Champions League rounds, but we could not fulfil that. In general, I am happy with the last half year.
"
Hiddink also confirmed his players would honour the Foxes, who are managed by former Chelsea boss Claudio Ranieri:
According to Twomey, the Dutchman gave the latest injury news on Thibaut Courtois and Diego Costa ahead of the game:
The match is of relatively little consequence on Sunday, with Leicester already confirmed as the league winners and the Blues unable to improve on their ninth position.
However, with Ranieri likely to get a good reception from the home crowd, and the fans set to bid farewell to Hiddink—as well as celebrate Terry's contract offer—it should be a positive end to an otherwise disappointing season at Stamford Bridge.
