Barcelona Transfer News: Andres Iniesta Offer Revealed, Sandro Ramirez Rumours

Rory MarsdenMay 12, 2016

Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has reportedly "turned down a lucrative offer" to leave the Camp Nou and continue his playing career in China.

According to Football Espana, the midfielder's agent, Ramon Sostres, confirmed that representatives from China—the club is unknown—have been in touch with him to "attempt to lure the 32-year-old to the Far East."

However, Iniesta reportedly rejected the approach and told Sostres he aims to stay at Barca in the buildup to the 2018 World Cup, while a Mundo Deportivo source (via Football Espana) outlined the Spaniard's continuing value to the Blaugrana: "Iniesta is an icon and is not moving from here. He has a contract until 2018 and there is nothing to talk about with any club."

Chinese Super League clubs have flexed their muscles in the transfer market recently, luring a number of star players away from Europe's top leagues.

Liverpool target Alex Teixeira was signed by Jiangsu Suning for £38 million in February, just days after Chelsea's Ramires had joined the same club for £21 million and Jackson Martinez moved from Atletico Madrid to Guangzhou Evergrande for £31.5 million, per Sky Sports' Richard Morgan.

Unlike America's Major League Soccer, the CSL has successfully made moves for players who still have a number of years left in their prime, and there has even been talk of Far East clubs seriously targeting England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney, per Bleacher Report's Dean Jones:

Unsurprisingly, though, it seems the 30-year-old striker is not currently interested in leaving European football, and the same is clearly true for Iniesta.

The Barcelona skipper is still a hugely important player for manager Luis Enrique's side and is likely to lift La Liga and Copa del Rey titles for the club this season.

The World Cup winner is in the latter stages of his glittering career, but he remains more than capable of cutting it with the best players in the world.

A move to China would mean a step down qualitywise for Iniesta, and it is too early for him to be making such a move.

Indeed, it seems highly likely that he will never leave Barcelona, having come through the academy and established himself as one of the world's best players at the Camp Nou.

Meanwhile, it looks as though Barca forward Sandro Ramirez will leave the club in the summer, and Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly "on alert" after they missed out on signing him in the January transfer window.

Also a La Masia graduate, the 20-year-old has been told by Enrique "that he is not in his plans," and Barca have now put him on the transfer market, with Sandro set to be available for £7.8 million, per Spanish outlet Sport (via TalkSport).

Able to play as a striker or on either flank, Sandro has struggled to make an impact at Barca, not least because he is unable to unseat Luis Suarez in the first team—the Spaniard has made only 10 La Liga appearances in 2015-16, per WhoScored.com.

Clearly Enrique does not see Sandro as an adequate back-up for Suarez, but Spurs are in need of cover for Harry Kane and thus could move to sign him in the summer.
