IPL 2016: Highest Run-Scorers, Top Batting Averages, Best Bowling Figures, More
As has often been the way with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, they look to be making a late run for the play-offs in the 2016 edition.
A six-wicket victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday saw Rohit Sharma's side up into fourth spot, and they have now won four of their last five matches—the only defeat an 85-run drubbing to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The key to the Indians' triumph was to skittle out four of the best batsmen in the competition—RCB quartet Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers and Shane Watson—for a combined 51 runs, while Kieron Pollard's 19-ball 35 was the key knock for Mumbai.
Here is what the statistical batting and bowling rankings look like following the 41st match in IPL 9:

Aside from Pollard—who conceded 22 runs off his only over in Wednesday's match—Mumbai's bowlers were fantastic against RCB as they restricted arguably the best batting lineup in the tournament to 151 at their home ground.
Bangalore's previous lowest total of the tournament was the 170 they scored against Mumbai in the reverse fixture last month.
Mitchell McClenaghan dismissed danger-man Kohli for just seven to take him to 15 wickets for the tournament and moved him out on his own at the head of the race for the Purple Cap.
Meanwhile, Krunal Pandya dismissed De Villiers for 24 in a fantastic four-over spell that saw just 15 runs conceded, an effort that played a huge part in swinging the match in Mumbai's favour, per Cricbuzz:
Invariably against RCB, even if Kohli and De Villiers are dismissed cheaply, Gayle and Watson will still enhance the total, but they could only score 20 between them.
Indeed, were it not for an excellent knock of 68 from KL Rahul, Bangalore would have been defending a very small total.
As it was, Mumbai had a target of 152 to chase as they aimed to secure a win that would see them up into the top four.
Their attempt did not start very well, with Parthiv Patel and Nitish Rana falling cheaply while Sharma's 25 and Ambati Rayudu's 44 were not the fastest of knocks—the former coming from 24 balls, the latter 47.
When Pollard strode to the crease with seven overs remaining—after Rana had fallen for nine to an outrageous Stuart Binny catch, per IPL—the Indians were struggling on 79 for three:
But the West Indian wasted little time in putting his side back in the driving seat as he hit two sixes and three fours in a match-winning contribution.
He was ably assisted by Jos Buttler, who came in to bat after Rayudu fell in the 16th over and hit 29 runs from just 11 balls, sealing the victory with his third six, per bet365:
The RCB bowlers simply could not handle the power of Pollard and Buttler and fell to their sixth defeat of the tournament as a result.
Kohli's side now have a mountain to climb if they are to make the knockout rounds of the 2016 IPL, while defending champions Mumbai are in with a very good chance of finishing in the top four.
