IPL Results 2016: Supergiants vs. Sunrisers Score and Updated T20 Points Table
Rising Pune Supergiants' chances of reaching the knockout stage of the 2016 Indian Premier League were effectively ended on Tuesday, as they lost by four runs to Sunrisers Hyderabad, who moved to the top of the standings as a result.
MS Dhoni's side were indebted to a brilliant bowling performance from Australian spinner Adam Zampa, as they restricted the Sunrisers to just 137 for eight to give themselves a great chance of victory.
But a brilliant all-round performance with the ball from Hyderabad prevented RPS from scoring with any kind of fluidity, and the Pune outfit were eventually left with too much to do in the last over to claim a crucial win.
Here is what the IPL 2016 standings look like following Tuesday's clash at Visakhapatnam:
| Pos | Team | Mat | Won | Lost | Tied | N/R | Net RR | Pts |
| 1 | SRH | 10 | 7 | 3 | 0 | 0 | +0.558 | 14 |

| 3 | KKR | 10 | 6 | 4 | 0 | 0 | +0.206 | 12 |
| 4 | DD | 9 | 5 | 4 | 0 | 0 | +0.309 | 10 |
| 5 | MI | 10 | 5 | 5 | 0 | 0 | -0.447 | 10 |

Rising Pune Supergiants vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad
Hyderabad, 137 for eight (Dhawan 33, Zampa six for 19), beat Pune, 133 for eight (Bailey 34, Nehra three for 29), by four runs.
Sunrisers skipper David Warner won the toss and opted to bat first, but he fell early for 11 to RP Singh.
Given how the Australian opener has fared so far—he is currently the tournament's second-highest run scorer—it was a huge wicket for RPS.
Shikhar Dhawan and Kane Williamson responded well, as they put on 46 together, but they were unable to score fast, with Ravi Ashwin proving particularly difficult to get away.

Indeed, when Dhawan fell for 33 in the 11th over to the Indian spinner, Hyderabad were only 64 for two and struggling.
Yuvraj Singh pushed the rate on slightly as he came in at four and hit a couple of sixes before falling to the brilliant Zampa for 23.
Zampa then did for Williamson, for a 37-ball 32, and Moises Henriques, for 10, and the Sunrisers looked set to fall well short of a defendable total.
Deepak Hooda tried his best to do something about it, as he hit a couple of maximums, with the second coming off the first ball of what needed to be a big final over.
However, after brief council from skipper Dhoni, Zampa had Hooda stumped with a terrific ball, and he then proceeded to dismiss Naman Ojha and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to finish the innings with stunning figures, per ESPNcricinfo:
Cricket commentator Ayaz Memon praised Dhoni's captaincy, as the Supergiants restricted Hyderabad to 137 for eight from their 20 overs:
However, the Sunrisers started excellently with the ball, with Kumar dismissing danger man Ajinkya Rahane for a duck in the first over.
After three overs, RPS had just nine runs on the board, and Usman Khawaja was then run out after terrific work in the deep from Hooda.
George Bailey and Ashwin led the recovery, as they put on 49 together before the Australian was caught at deep midwicket by Ashish Nehra, having been reprieved earlier in his innings.
Ashwin departed soon after in the 14th over with Pune at 78 for four and the required run rate on the rise.
With three overs remaining, RPS needed 37 runs for the win and looked to be staring down the barrel of yet another defeat.
However, Dhoni and Thisara Perera gave their team a chance, scoring 15 runs off the 18th over, with one big six down the ground from the No. 7.
A tight penultimate over from Mustafizur Rahman left RPS needing 14 off the last, and Perera fell with three balls remaining.
A huge offside six from Dhoni gave his side a chance, as they were left needing six off the last two deliveries, but it was not to be for the Supergiants, as the skipper was then run out off the penultimate ball and Zampa caught behind for a first-ball duck.
