Real Madrid Transfer News: James Rodriguez, Alvaro Morata, Paul Pogba Rumours

Christopher SimpsonMay 10, 2016

Real Madrid are willing to sell James Rodriguez this summer but are yet to receive any bids for him, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague

In a question-and-answer session for Sky Sports, Balague was asked what his situation is at the Bernabeu: "The situation is he belongs to Jorge Mendes, and he has been talking to other clubs. Real Madrid will accept offers, but at the moment there is none and they want to recover some of the money they spent on him. Keep an eye on that."

According to Corriere dello Sport (h/t Daily Mail’s Richard Arrowsmith), both Manchester United and Juventus are interested in the former AS Monaco man.

The Colombian has been in mixed form this season and has struggled to nail down a starting berth under Rafael Benitez or Zinedine Zidane—partially due to his underwhelming performances and also due to the lack of balance in the team when he's present.

As the Mirror's Ed Malyon demonstrated, not everything the playmaker has tried has come off this season:

He has nevertheless got eight goals and 10 assists—a respectable return.

The midfielder could make an excellent capture, but with Balague noting Los Blancos are hoping to recover some of their outlay on him, he may be an expensive signing.

Balague also noted a potential replacement for him could be Juventus star Paul Pogba: "Pogba is on the market. Juventus, of course, will want to keep him, but I'm pretty sure Manchester City, Real Madrid and [Paris Saint-Germain] will want him. It's still early, so we will have to keep an eye on that."

As OptaPaolo revealed, like Rodriguez, he too is an effective contributor in the final third:

Further, he has the lofty ambition of being one of the world's best all-round midfielders, per BT Sport's James Horncastle:

Indeed, his willingness to track back is greater than that of Rodriguez and so his presence does not hinder the Bianconeri's balance as a unit.

However, Juve are indeed reluctant to part with their star, per Mediaset (h/t Horncastle):

The Old Lady have another player Real want, former Los Blancos star Alvaro Morata, whom they can bring back to the Bernabeu for €30 million, according to Nizaar Kinsella, Romeo Agresti and Alberto Pinero of Goal.com.

Per Luca Mastrolilli of GianluaDiMarzio.com, Juve director Beppe Marotta gave the latest on Morata's future: "Morata? We have to meet with Real Madrid but right now they are busy preparing for the final of the Champions League. We've postponed the talks until after the final. There is a 50 per cent chance he will stay."

The 23-year-old has bagged 11 goals and as many assists for Juventus this season, so he'd provide an upgrade on Real's current back-up options to their front three. Here are some of his best moments this season:

One of his best games came for the Bianconeri in their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with Bayern Munich, as Bleacher Report UK's Sam Tighe noted:

If Los Blancos can persuade him to return to the Spanish capital, they'll have added an outstanding option to their squad.

Lastly, Real will reportedly renew their pursuit of Manchester United 'keeper David De Gea this summer, according to Oscar Mendez of Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t James Gray of the Express). De Gea seems to be favoured by president Florentino Perez, whereas manager Zinedine Zidane would reportedly prefer to keep Keylor Navas as his No. 1.

The Costa Rican has had an excellent campaign this year, so while he may not have De Gea's star power he'd be a solid choice to stick with.

Further, United will be even more reluctant to part with the Spaniard this year as he is perhaps their only world-class operator, and losing De Gea could be a huge blow to their ambitions.
