Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Mario Gotze, Daniel Sturridge, Top Rumours
Liverpool are the favourites with selected bookmakers to sign Mario Gotze this summer should Bayern Munich sell the midfielder.
As noted by Jack Wilson of the Daily Star, both NetBet and 10Bet have the Germany international at 11/10 to join the Reds, making them favourites to land him. The same companies each have Gotze at 7/4 to move back to his former club Borussia Dortmund, while Manchester United are a long way adrift in third position in the market at 18/1, per Oddschecker.
As noted by Wilson, Gotze has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool and a possible reunion with manager Jurgen Klopp, who brought the best out of the playmaker during their time together at Borussia Dortmund.

Here is a look at some of Gotze’s best moments under the vibrant coach:
Despite the speculation surrounding a potential switch Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently revealed he’s unsure about whether the player will move on. “The length of his contract is known,” he said, per Wilson. “I don't know any more. Neither he nor his advisor have stated anything publicly. So everything is speculation.”

Gotze could do with a fresh start, as his career with Bayern seems to be coming to an inevitable close. Granted, current manager Pep Guardiola, who doesn’t appear to trust the playmaker in the big matches, will be departing at the end of the season, but the chance to join a new club and become a key man will surely tempt the Germany international.
The Sport Witness Twitter feed summed up just how much Gotze’s stock has fallen since he moved to Bayern:
Liverpool may be in the box seat with bookmakers, but if it becomes apparent Bayern are ready to cash in on the creator, a lot of teams will join the hunt for him. Dortmund, where he was so effective and shared such an affinity with the fans, would also represent a tantalising proposition.
Meanwhile, Reds strikers Daniel Sturridge and Jerome Sinclair have been linked with moves to Arsenal and Watford, respectively.
According to Andy Dunn of the Sunday Mirror, the Gunners will offer £30 million for Sturridge this summer, although the Reds are said to value him higher.

After a long spell in which he suffered with a succession of niggling injuries, the striker looks to be back at full fitness once again and is scoring goals frequently for Klopp’s side. However, with Divock Origi used in big games prior to his injury, as well as a striker-less system, there are lingering doubts about Sturridge’s role at the club.
Bleacher Report’s Nick Akerman thinks the England international can be part of a bright future for the Reds should they build around him:
Sinclair is a player who looks unlikely to be part of Liverpool’s future, with the Hornets said to be close to agreeing a deal for the youngster. According to Alex Harris of the Daily Star Sunday, the two clubs will use Sunday’s game as a chance to hold discussions about a transfer.

“I like Jerome, he is a real talent, and if he wants to stay with us no problem, absolutely no problem, but if not we can't force it,” Klopp said of Sinclair recently, per Wilson. However, it seems as though he’ll further his career elsewhere, with Harris saying the Reds value him at £5 million.
Here’s a look at what the youngster can offer, as he scored his first senior goal for the club earlier in the season, per BT Sport Football:
Sturridge could potentially thrive at Arsenal, where they have a host of intricate midfield men who would provide superb service to the striker. However, with Klopp at the helm, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino in support and a club with masses of momentum behind it, Liverpool is surely just as attractive a proposition.
They’re factors that make it odd Sinclair has seemingly chosen a different path. Klopp has shown throughout his managerial career he’s superb at nurturing young talent, and for a 19-year-old on the fringes of the first team, that could have been an exciting opportunity.
