Milwaukee Bucks Unveil New Stadium Design: Latest Details, Drawings, Comments
The Milwaukee Bucks released images Thursday of the new downtown stadium they will move into at the start of the 2018-19 season.
The renderings are available at NBA.com, which said they gave fans “a glimpse of the unique features that will help define the social experience of attending events in the new building.”
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the new arena will be built north of the Bucks’ current home at the BMO Harris Bradley Center and feature restaurants and taverns in the surrounding areas.
The images released Thursday highlight a number of areas for the new building, including the main concourse. It will have views of Milwaukee and “spacious walkways” with “plenty of natural light” and be on the arena’s south side, per NBA.com.
The renderings also display the Panorama Club and the Courtside Club Premium. The latter is located near Milwaukee’s locker room and will show the players leaving the floor.
The new arena will be 714,000 square feet, per NBA.com, and can also host additional events, such as hockey games, stage concerts and shows.
The Bucks were a disappointing 33-49 this season but feature an exciting young core that will ideally anchor the team’s transition to the new arena if it can keep the talent together.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is only 21 years old and a triple-double threat every time he steps on the floor, while Jabari Parker was the No. 2 overall pick in last year’s draft and is still only 21. Elsewhere, the 24-year-old Khris Middleton is a sharpshooter who led the team with 18.2 points per game this season, and Greg Monroe is 25 years old and an inside force who can control the glass and protect the rim.
NBA.com reported the public groundbreaking for the arena is set for June 18 with the idea of opening before the 2018-19 campaign.
