Gujarat Lions vs. Kings XI Punjab
Kings XI are in crisis. In the 2015 IPL they won only three of their 14 matches and finished rock bottom of the table.
After six matches this year they have only two points—from their victory over Pune—and have now removed David Miller as captain following three consecutive defeats, per ESPN Cricinfo:
Murali Vijay will take up the skipper's role for the first time against Gujarat, and he will hope to turn around Kings XI's fortunes.
Last time out they lost by 25 runs to Mumbai Indians, failing to chase down a target of 190.
However, their middle order did at last show some form, big-hitting Glenn Maxwell scoring 56 from 39 balls and Miller getting a 17-ball 30.
Shaun Marsh also continued his decent tournament with a contribution of 45.
If the overseas trio can combine with openers Vijay and Manan Vohra then Kings XI would be a force to be reckoned with in batting terms, but their bowling must improve if they are to turn their fortunes around.
Sandeep Sharma has been the Punjab outfit's only consistent performer with the ball so far, with Australian Mitchell Johnson proving particularly disappointing.
Given the batting prowess in the Gujarat lineup, Kings XI will have very little chance of winning in Rajkot unless then can keep things tight.
When the two sides had their first meeting of IPL 9 early in April, opener Aaron Finch led Gujarat's successful chase with a 47-ball 74.

The Australian has been out injured recently, but Dwayne Smith has come in as his replacement and scored a half-century as Gujarat beat Delhi Daredevils by one run in their last outing.
Brendon McCullum also showed his form with a score of 60, and the opening duo will likely be relishing taking on Kings XI, as will the likes of Raina and Dinesh Karthik.
Kings XI have the personnel to be a top side, but their confidence will likely be non-existent given their current woes.
Conversely, Gujarat are flying high and are on a charge to booking their playoff spot in no time. Given the differing fortunes of the two sides, there can surely be only one winner unless Kings XI can produce some as-yet-unseen fireworks.
