WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from April 27
Samoa Joe's crowning as the new heavyweight champion turned the NXT Universe upside down last Thursday night, but for the rest of the roster, it was business as usual, as WWE's hottest brand produced a show that delivered its fair share of big winners and bigger losers.
Tag teams took center stage, both scoring enhancement victories before setting their sights on each other. Only one of those dynamic duos, though, could earn winner status. The other featured one Superstar in particular who could only be considered a loser.
Women's wrestling grabbed the spotlight, as Asuka battled Eva Marie in singles competition. It was a top contender not involved in that match, and a newcomer who wrestled her first televised singles match during this week's show, who stole headlines, though.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
While the show may not have been the most explosive in terms of storyline developments or in-ring action, it was another solid presentation by a brand that knows how to satisfy its fans. These are the competitors who made the greatest impression, for better and worse.
Winners: The Revival

Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder had been justifiably criticized for their lack of personality, leading to too many silent reactions when they entered arenas across the country. There was no character development outside of commentators reminding the audience that the team was a throwback of sorts, a return to the days of physical tandems like the Andersons.
The result was a tag title run that never really connected with audiences.
Wednesday night, the young bruisers set out to change perceptions of them, first with a strong promo in which Dawson threatened the entire roster with violence until they got their tag titles back. Then, they followed it up by attacking The Hype Bros from behind and leaving them lying at ringside.
Whether that ignites a rivalry between the two teams remains to be seen, but just the fact that Dawson was allowed to have mic time to issue the warning is a step in the right direction. Let fans get a good idea of the team's motivations, what makes them tick, and fans will react far stronger than they have to this point.
Loser: Zack Ryder

Yes, WWE taped this slew of NXT shows at Axxess, well before WrestleMania 32 hit the airwaves, but there was still something disconcerting about watching Zack Ryder team with Mojo Rawley again. At The Showcase of the Immortals, he captured the intercontinental title in one of the feel-good moments of that broadcast.
He has been turning in some of the best in-ring performances of his career, yet fans are once again reminded of the fact that WWE demoted him to the developmental brand and left him to team with the obnoxious Rawley.
Sure, The Hype Bros defeated Blake and Murphy and look to be headed toward a feud with Dash and Dawson, but that is of little consolation for a guy who should be appearing on this Sunday's Payback pay-per-view. Instead, he will be stuck watching from catering as if his WrestleMania moment never happened.
Winner: Nia Jax
Fairly quiet since her loss to Bayley back at TakeOver: London last December, Nia Jax stared down Asuka Wednesday night following the women's champion's victory over Eva Marie, providing fans with a glimpse of a rivalry that will carry the women's division into the next live event special.
A talented young competitor who has shined in the high-profile opportunities presented to her thus far, Jax's punishing style and size should mesh well with Asuka's strikes and speed to deliver a compelling match.
Overshadowed by Eva Marie for reasons that lie in reality television shows, Jax deserves the opportunity to show the world she can be a cornerstone for the women's division going forward. Expect her to get it and do just that.
Winner: Aliyah

Fans of WWE Network's Breaking Ground know who Aliyah is and, more importantly, how she worked to develop her character and a ring entrance. Wednesday night, she had her first opportunity to compete in a singles match on television, and the result was an inspiring performance that should motivate her to improve and earn more ring time going forward.
She was crisp, confident and never looked like the moment was too big for her. She was also vocal, talking trash to opponent, Carmella, eliminating any talk of nerves.
A rookie of sorts, she still has to work on timing and connecting with the audience, but she more than delivered in what was, to that point, the most important match of her young career.
