Philadelphia Eagles Welcome Back Jeremiah Trotter
One of the last memories of Jeremiah Trotter with the Philadelphia Eagles was him hugging Brian Dawkins goodbye after he was released in 2007. Now, it appears that the third time may be a charm for Trotter and the Eagles.
After a couple of workouts, the Philadelphia Eagles announced today that they have signed linebacker Jeremiah Trotter to a one-year deal for his third stint with the team.
To make room on the roster, the team released Jeff Garcia, who signed with the Eagles two weeks ago as insurance at quarterback because of Donovan McNabb’s rib injury.

During his first two stints with the Eagles, Trotter was always a fan favorite to the City of Brotherly Love. His signature move as “The Axeman” made each sack or tackle for a loss exciting as he would throw his arms as if he were holding an axe.
Two years ago, it was difficult for the fans of Philadelphia to watch the organization release Trotter after everything he had done for the team throughout his career.
Not only was he one of the leaders on defense, but he was always the type of player who would give 110 percent each game he played in.
In 2004, Trotter played a major contribution in helping the Eagles reach Super Bowl XXXIX against the New England Patriots because of the impact he made at stopping the run.
Trotter was released by the Eagles in the 2007 offseason to as their group of young linebackers, such as Stewart Bradley and Omar Gather, were emerging as starters for Jim Johnson’s defense.
He spent the 2007 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he did not sign with a team for the 2008 season.
