Erin Andrews Settles Lawsuit Regarding Leaked Nude Video

Sportscaster Erin Andrews reportedly settled her lawsuit Monday "against a hotel owner and operator that allowed her stalker to secretly record her naked through a door peephole," per Stacey Barchenger of the Tennessean (via USA Today).

Barchenger noted the terms of the settlement were confidential. Andrews was awarded $55 million by a jury in March.

Randall Kinnard, Andrews' lawyer, commented on the settlement, per Barchenger: "This litigation is over. [Andrews] is satisfied with the settlement, the terms of which are confidential."

A Nashville jury ruled West End Hotel Partners and Windsor Capital Group, the companies that own and operate the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University, owed $27 million of the $55 million, while "Andrews' stalker, Michael David Barrett, was responsible for $28 million," per Barchenger.

Barchenger reported Monday's "settlement was reached just hours before the lawyers were expected to return to Circuit Judge Hamilton Gayden's courtroom to discuss an issue that could have left the hotel companies on the hook to pay even more."

The companies could have been responsible for the full $55 million had the judge ruled in Andrews' favor after Kinnard asked for rules of joint and several liability to be applied, per Barchenger.

Mark Chalos, a lawyer who analyzed the Andrews case for the Tennessean, said the companies possibly having to make a bigger payout could have motivated Monday's settlement, per Barchenger.

Andrews took to Twitter after the jury reached its verdict in March to thank her supporters:

Barrett pleaded guilty to interstate stalking in December 2009 and was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison in 2010, per the Associated Press via ESPN.com.

Meghan Keneally of ABC News reported Andrews initially asked for $75 million from the hotel companies and Barrett, who recorded the video in September 2008.

Andrews works for Fox Sports and is a former employee of ESPN.
