Mesut Ozil Left out of the 2016 PFA Team of the Year: Latest Comments, Reaction
The Professional Footballers' Association announced its Premier League Team of the Year on Thursday, controversially leaving Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil out of the starting XI.
As shared by the PFA's official Twitter account, the four midfielders selected were Tottenham Hotspur's Dele Alli, West Ham United's Dimitri Payet and Leicester City's N'Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez:

Only one of Ozil's Arsenal team-mates made the team, as Hector Bellerin got the nod at the right-back position. He, Payet and Manchester United's David De Gea are the only players in the lineup who do not ply their trade for Spurs or Leicester.
Per WhoScored.com, Ozil has scored six goals and an incredible 18 assists in the Premier League this season, and for most of the campaign, he was the driving force behind Arsenal's title bid.
Copa90 thought Gunner fans would be none too happy:
But they weren't the only ones who took issue with the decision to leave out Ozil. ESPN FC's Mike L. Goodman thought the Germany international certainly deserved selecting over Alli:
What makes his omission even more baffling is the fact Ozil is one of the nominees to win this year's PFA Player of the Year award.
Bleacher Report UK couldn't help but crack a joke:
Ultimately, it's hard to disagree with any of the selections. Payet did miss a portion of the season through injury, but he has also played a vital role in West Ham's push for a European ticket. He's played some of his best football toward the end of the season, which can often sway the voters.

Alli, Kante and Mahrez have all come up huge for the two clubs still battling it out for the Premier League title.
Per Daniel Taylor of the Guardian, Ozil's form after March may have cost him:
Other notable exclusions include Kyle Walker, who has had a superb season for Spurs, Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Everton's Romelu Lukaku.
