IPL 2016: Highest Run-Scorers, Wicket-Takers, More After Sunrisers vs. Indians
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s David Warner fired himself into the top five of the Indian Premier League’s top run-scorers with a fantastic unbeaten 90 against Mumbai Indians on Monday, helping his team win its first IPL contest of the season in the process.
The Australian leads all IPL batsmen with nine sixes, but he still trails Gautam Gambhir of Kolkata Knight Riders in the run-scorers' list. Gambhir currently sits at 192 runs, one ahead of Aaron Finch of Gujarat Lions.

Warner’s performance on Monday was a superb knock that lasted for just under 18 overs and yielded 90 runs from 59 balls. While he got some help from his team-mates, who with the exception of Shikhar Dhawan all scored double figures, Warner was undoubtedly the driving force behind the chase.
Eyeing a target of 143, Hyderabad couldn’t find a single partner who saw more than 22 balls, but it didn’t matter, as Warner was unstoppable. He found the boundary 11 times, with four of those going for six. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra was impressed:
"90* off 145 runs...what an innings by the best opener in the world (across all formats) David Warner, take a bow. #SRHvMI
— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash) April 18, 2016"
Amazingly, Warner didn’t even want credit for the win. Per ESPN Cricinfo, he pointed at the bowlers, who restricted Mumbai to a total of 142:
"I'll put it down to the bowlers. I asked them during the meetings to execute and back their plans. With two batsmen in, it looked like we could be chasing 160. The key thing today was the ball actually swung for 20 overs. Just about me playing my game, I got dropped again, and that ball normally deceives me, has been a theme throughout my career.
"
Hyderabad’s batting has looked mediocre at best during the early stages of the IPL season, and with so much attention going to Warner, it’s hard to see him single-handedly dragging them to any silverware this season.

Other openers, like Gambhir, can play more freely and take some risks, knowing the line-up should be fine if he loses his wicket early, and that’s simply not the case for Hyderabad.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have similar luxuries, with Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers taking care of business, and those players remain the favourites to win the orange cap.

McClenaghan did whatever he could to take Warner’s wicket on Monday, but after his superb start to the 2016 IPL campaign, he took a step back against Hyderabad.
The 29-year-old couldn’t grab a wicket, and instead, team-mate Tim Southee did all of the damage with figures of 3-24 through four overs. Mohammad Kaif thought the Black Caps star looked off, and Warner took full advantage:
Out of the three players to have taken six wickets so far, McClenaghan has now given up the most runs, with 106. He has played more overs than either Bravo or Ashwin, and his economy rate of 7.31 is still solid.
But this year’s IPL is filled with talented wicket-takers, including the likes of Andre Russell, Mustafizur Rahman, Ravindra Jadeja and Sunil Narine, who only just returned to the pitch for Kolkata but looked his old self in the win over Hyderabad.
Gujarat’s Jadeja has four wickets in just eight overs of work so far, and the spinner is one to keep a close eye on for the purple cap, given his impressive form.
