Liverpool Transfer News: Daniel Sturridge Sale Urged, Jurgen Klopp Talks Rumours
Liverpool have been urged to cash in on England striker Daniel Sturridge by former Sky Sports pundit Richard Keys. Plus, manager Jurgen Klopp has said he would "never sign an a------e."
Speaking to Sport360, Keys ascertained Sturridge is an unnecessary piece of the puzzle at Anfield, where he's endured major injury setbacks this season (h/t James Walters of the Daily Star): “There is a little bit more to do yet but Klopp knows exactly what is needed and we can expect them to be a major force again next year. He needs to make sure he hangs on to Coutinho but I would get rid of Sturridge.”

Last month, talkSPORT's Damian Mannion linked Sturridge with a £50 million move to French titans Paris Saint-Germain, who are set to lose Zlatan Ibrahimovic when his contract expires this summer.
The 26-year-old's place in England's squad is also under threat following the emergence of Manchester United's Marcus Rashford and Andy Carroll of West Ham United. However, ex-England coach Glenn Hoddle told BT Sport's Fletch and Sav Show Sturridge—who has eight goals in 18 games this season—deserves his place at Euro 2016:
"Former @england manager @GlennHoddle explains why @DanielSturridge must go to #EURO2016 over @AndyTCarroll. https://t.co/JspWWDDBJr

Reds chief Klopp may not be inclined to heed Keys' advice this summer, however, especially with £32.5 million Christian Benteke riding the bench as the likes of Sturridge and Divock Origi have soared.
Klopp has so far opted for a single frontman in his tactics, but Bleacher Report's Jack Lusby pointed to evidence the tea-mates and rivals may thrive as an attacking pair:
Elsewhere, the Reds chief has reduced Liverpool's potential transfer prospects after admitting a player's personality ranks as a higher priority for him than talent alone.
Speaking to magazine The Red Bulletin, Klopp touched on the characteristics that draws him to a player in the transfer market (h/t Mirror's Jack Lang):
"I was a fighting machine with a will of iron. Anyone can have a good day but you have to be able to perform on a bad day. That's what you live for as a sportsman. You have to put up a fight.
If you are full of motivation as a player, if you are full of concentration I am open arms. If you are not, of course [I am hard] but only because to work with players who don't understand the professional part of this life is a waste of time.
I would never sign an a------e just because he's great at football.
"
As well as hinting at the kind of players Klopp desires, those comments may also suggests there are those already at his disposal with whom the tactician is ready to part ways.
The vast majority of the players present at Anfield were brought in by Klopp's managerial predecessors, and Lusby provided further proof of the big changes coming at the end of this season:
The German's no-nonsense approach to his role as Liverpool chief has yielded results thus far, leading the club to the Capital One Cup final and the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League.
This summer will be Klopp's first real opportunity to inject his own dash of influence at the club, and fans can look forward to those joining the cause being of good moral fibre, it seems.
