Gambhir's magnificent unbeaten knock—which included 13 fours—came from just 60 balls and allowed Kolkata to chase down Hyderabad's lowly 142 with ease.
Per cricket stats man Mohandas Menon, the 34-year-old reached an impressive milestone in Twenty20 cricket:
When combined with the 102 runs he'd accumulated in the previous two matches, the Indian international put himself well out in front with Faf du Plessis lingering back on 103 and Finch on 124.
That is, until Finch took to the field later on Saturday and added to his excellent tally with 67 more runs—a crucial figure amid an otherwise fairly disappointing batting effort from the Lions in which they chased down 143 thanks to a four from the Australian in the final ball.
Former cricketer Aakash Chopra and commentator Harsha Bhogle hailed his performances thus far:
The batsman appeared to be struggling with a hamstring problem late on, but he dismissed it as cramp, per ESPNcricinfo:
"Started to cramp in my calf, think it was just cramp. Feel good, feel like I'm batting nicely. Want to continue. It was nice to finally get us home over the line. Last three games I got us into a reasonably position to win the game. I try to take it upon myself to bat right through.
"

Friday and Saturday saw the two best bowling performances of the IPL season so far.
The first came from Amit Mishra as the Delhi Daredevils thrashed the Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets, as he bagged four wickets at the cost of just 11 runs, dismissing Manan Vohra, Shaun Marsh, David Miller and Glenn Maxwell in his three overs.
Cricketer Mohammad Kaif and commentator Ayaz Memon showered him with praise afterward:
Mitchell McClenaghan's effort on Saturday was almost as good, but it was not quite enough to top Mishra's or earn his Mumbai Indians side a victory over Gujarat.
After seeing Suresh Raina and Akshdeep Nath caught out, McClenaghan took James Faulkner and Praveen Kumar in quick succession in the 19th over as he bid to prevent the Lions from completing their chase, per ESPNcricinfo:
Indeed, if not for Finch he would have done so, as it took Gujarat until the final ball to win.
Unsurprisingly, Mishra also has the best economy rate after conceding just 22 runs from his five overs. His Daredevils side face a difficult challenge on Sunday as they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore, who won their first match with ease after bagging 227 runs.
Against their batting might, Mishra will need to have a similarly productive performance if they're to win.
