Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Saul Niguez, Michael Carrick Rumours
Manchester United’s move for Saul Niguez has been rocked after it was claimed the Atletico Madrid midfielder would reject any approaches made for him this summer, per Fichajes.net (h/t Luke Gardener of the Daily Star).
The 21-year-old Rojiblancos star will reportedly turn down any proposed offer from the Premier League heavyweights due to him enjoying life in the Spanish capital.
Per WhoScored.com, the youngster has made 38 appearances in all competitions under the leadership of boss Diego Simeone this term, helping to maintain their mount on the Liga title as well as venturing into the semi-finals of the Champions League where they will face Bayern Munich.

Niguez has shot to form during the campaign to become a key member of Atletico’s first team. Understandably well-drilled due to Simeone’s guidance, the versatile midfielder is equally adept across the middle of the pitch.
A talented defensive-minded player, the Spain under-21 international aids the team’s counter-attacking vision with his awareness, tough tackling and interception ability.
Atleti's official Twitter account was full of praise for his performance against Barcelona as he combined well with Antoine Griezmann to help eliminate their Liga rivals from the competition on Wednesday.

Per Gardener, Niguez has a £36 million release clause in his contract, and Barca must be given first refusal on the player should Atletico want to sell him—a clause introduced when the Catalan giants sold David Villa to the Vicente Calderon club in July 2013.
Everton eye United veteran Carrick
One player who could be heading for the Old Trafford exit is experienced midfielder Michael Carrick, who is interesting Everton, per Andy Hunter of the Guardian.
Carrick’s deal expires at the end of the current campaign and Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is eager to widen his midfield options with the 34-year-old still yet to be offered an extension.

Per Hunter, the Everton head coach would consider the England international to be a ideal signing to remove the burden placed on the shoulders of fellow defensive midfielder Gareth Barry.
Despite the invested interest, the former West Ham and Tottenham playmaker could yet stay on at United and be handed a new deal, per the Guardian’s Jamie Jackson.
Carrick has been a consistent member of the first-team squad under Louis van Gaal this season, racking up 24 league appearances, per Soccerway.
It remains to be seen whether either Carrick or his manager will still be at the Premier League side come the start of next season. Either way, Atletico’s Niguez has reportedly ruled himself out of lining up for United any time soon after riding the crest of a wave this season.
