True or False: Tottenham Transfer Rumours in Last Weeks of Premier League Season
Whether Tottenham Hotspur can do the seemingly impossible and catch Leicester City in this season's Premier League title race or not, they'll need to be active in the ensuing transfer window.
With significant overhauls likely at Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City, Spurs can't afford to stand still or they'll risk their well-deserved place among the division's elite.
While Mauricio Pochettino has built a rock-solid starting lineup and can call upon some excellent players from his reserves, reinforcements are necessary to fight for the title again while competing in the UEFA Champions League.
With the summer approaching, transfer rumours are already beginning to populate newspapers and websites alike.
While Spurs are unlikely to make any high-priced additions to the squad, there will undoubtedly be a number of new players vying for a spot in Pochettino's exciting team next term.
Michy Batshuayi

Marseille's Michy Batshuayi has been a rumoured Tottenham transfer target since his prolific career at Standard Liege.
In February, the Independent's Samuel Stevens reported Spurs were confident of acquiring the Belgian striker.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Batshuayi's name has once again been presented.
This time around, it is former Marseille boss Marcelo Bielsa who has been actively promoting the 22-year-old's cause to Mauricio Pochettino, according to L'Equipe (h/t Get French Football News).
Bielsa was Pochettino's first manager at club level and is his greatest managerial influence.
If these reports are true, it only adds further fuel to Spurs' long-term interest.
Batshuayi undoubtedly has the talent and tactical flexibility to fill the dual roles Tottenham require of any new striker.
He could play in a supporting role or in place of Harry Kane, should Kane get injured or require a break.
With Marseille placed on the market by their current owner, according to Reuters (h/t Eurosport), negotiations over one of their most valuable players will likely be challenging, but Batshuayi would be valuable.
Batshuayi is under contract until 2020, so he would likely be costly, but Bielsa's recommendation should convince Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to offer the required sum.

Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele is one of the hottest names in European football after a breakout season in Ligue 1 with Rennes.
In his first season of senior football, Dembele has scored 12 goals, and a rumoured release clause of €5 million had piqued the interest of many.
Unfortunately, Dembele's agent denied the existence of such a clause when speaking to French publication 20 Minutes (h/t ESPN's Mark Rodden), and so Tottenham, or any other interested party, will be forced to pay full price for the teenager.
TalkSPORT has been one of many outlets to report Spurs' interest as well as Rennes' desire to only sell for a massive £30 million fee.
Dembele is another forward with the flexibility necessary to work as both an auxiliary forward stationed out wide and a central striker.
He is similar enough to a player like Heung-Min Son but lacks the pedigree of the South Korean international.
While Dembele is undoubtedly talented, Spurs already have Son, Nacer Chadli and a similar project player in Clinton Njie, so the Frenchman is unlikely to be a priority target.

Riechedly Bazoer

Ajax midfielder Riechedly Bazoer remains a relatively unknown quantity, but that is likely to change rapidly.
According to the Mirror's John Cross, Tottenham have joined a queue of European giants interested in the Dutch international.
Bazoer is still just 19 years old but is reportedly valued at around £20 million by Ajax.
He appears the perfect transfer target for Spurs.
Young, physically gifted and very skilful, Bazoer has the potential to compete to start immediately and develop rapidly alongside the likes of Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele at the heart of Tottenham's midfield.
In fact, Bazoer has a physicality and set of skills comparable to Dembele and could be an ideal understudy for the Belgian.
He has a similar knack of retaining the ball when it seems certain he'll be dispossessed.
Dembele is both a vital player and one of the oldest in Spurs' squad, underscoring the need to find a player that can mimic his contributions in case of injury or loss of form.

Gianluca Lapadula

Gianluca Lapadula is a 26-year-old striker that has spent the majority of his career in the lower divisions of Italian football.
He is flourishing with Pescara, 16 goals in 25 games, where he moved on a free transfer after Parma's bankruptcy in 2015.
Previously a Juventus youth player, Lapadula has reportedly attracted the interest of the Bianconeri. Italian football rumour-monger Gianluca Di Marzio was among the sources who suggested Juve would try to sign him for a fee around €5 million (h/t Danny Penza of Black & White & Read All Over).
Pescara president Daniele Sebastiani said Tottenham and Leicester City have also been tracking Lapadula this season, according to Itasportpress.it (h/t the Express).
In fact, his availability is likely to depend upon the outcome of Pescara's promotion campaign in Serie B.
Pescara are in the promotion play-off picture after 35 games, and if they fail, Lapadula will likely be available.
Lapadula appears to be a mature player, admitting that his failure in his time in Juventus' youth system was a result of an unwillingness to work to Italian magazine Panorama (h/t Football Italia).
An unpolished goalscorer that offers little else to his team, Lapadula does not seem well-suited to Tottenham.
