IPL Results 2016: Royal Challengers vs. Sunrisers Score, Latest Table, Schedule
Royal Challengers Bangalore cruised to a lopsided win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday, setting the highest total of the 2016 Indian Premier League season with 227 before easily defending the score to win by 45 runs.
Virat Kohli (75 from 51) and AB de Villiers (82 from 42) powered Bangalore to the impressive total, and Hyderabad never seemed likely to chase down the target of 228. The Royal Challengers bowlers did a fine job containing Hyderabad's attack, with David Warner (58 from 25) the only man to hit a half-century.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad
Royal Challengers Bangalore: 227/4 (De Villiers 82, Watson two for 30) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad: 182/6 (Warner 58, Rahman two for 26) by 45 runs.
Sunrisers won the toss and elected to bowl, and they got off to a perfect start, as Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled Chris Gayle in the second over on just the fourth ball the West Indies star faced.
But while the early wicket was cause for celebration, Bangalore soon found their rhythm, as Kohli and De Villiers put together a sensational pairing that lasted until the 16th over.
Cricket writer Ayaz Memon loves watching the two work together when they're in such fantastic form:
Kohli continued his fine form from the ICC World Twenty20 Championship in March, but it was De Villiers who did most of the damage with 13 boundaries and a strike rate of 195.23. Kumar finally bowled the former in the 16th over, but by that time, Bangalore had already put up an impressive 163 runs.
And their fine innings didn't end there. Shane Watson added a quick 19 from eight balls, and Sarfaraz Khan finished with an unbeaten 35 from just 10 deliveries.
Memon thought his knock was even more impressive than that of De Villiers:
Mustafizur Rahman was easily Hyderabad's top bowler with figures of two for 26, but he and Ashish Nehra were the only bowlers to keep their economy rate in single digits.
Per cricket writer Mohandas Menon, Royal Challengers' total of 227 looked daunting, and no team in IPL history has ever chased down such a high target:
Warner gave it his best shot, needing just 21 balls to reach a half-century, but his team-mates couldn't keep pace, and the chase seemed doomed when he was caught by Adam Milne, ending his day.
Moises Henriques added 19 from 23, but the rest of the order fell to pieces. Naman Ojha was caught for a duck by De Villiers, Shikhar Dhawan managed just eight from nine, and Deepak Hooda scored six from six before he too was caught.
Per the team's official Twitter account, the absence of Yuvraj Singh doomed Hyderabad's chances:
Ashish Reddy tried to salvage Hyderabad's chase, scoring 32 from 18, before he was bowled by Watson in the 16th over, and at that point, the required run rate had risen over 20. The final overs hardly mattered, as Bangalore's win was never in doubt.
Watson finished with figures of two for 30 to lead Bangalore's bowling attack, while Parvez Rasool also looked solid with figures of one for 31.
Per ESPNcricinfo, Warner praised Bangalore's batsmen and said his team will have to try and find some positives from the lopsided loss:
"I won't take it away from AB and Kohli. Sarfaraz did his bit as well. It was a tough ask for the boys. Nehra has hurt his groin again. Mustafizur was fantastic. We have to look back and look at positives and turn it around. We have a good batting track at Hyderabad. We should not lose wickets in clumps.
"
Bangalore are expected to do well in this year's IPL, powered by their incredible group of batsmen, and on Tuesday, they showed a glimpse of their potential. The duo of Kohli and De Villiers will put fear in the hearts of most bowlers, and if Gayle finds his best form as well, Royal Challengers' attack will look downright scary.
Whether the bowlers can keep up their end of the deal remains to be seen. Hyderabad barely tested them on Tuesday, but other teams will. The likes of Kolkata Knight Riders have the ability to do some major damage with the ball, and they'll like their chances against Bangalore in a straight shootout.
