La Liga Results 2016: Latest Title Odds and Table After Final Week 32 Match
Las Palmas continued their tremendous recent form on Monday, as they came from behind to beat Deportivo la Coruna 3-1 at the Estadio Riazor.
It’s three wins in a row now for the Canary Islanders, who responded superbly to Lucas Perez’s goal early in the second period. Sergio Araujo netted twice on the night on either side of a David Garcia strike.
Las Palmas jump up into the top half of the table, leapfrogging their opponents with this triumph. Deportivo are languishing in the 12th spot, although don’t have to worry about a relegation battle, with a nine-point gap between them and Getafe, who are currently in 18th.

Monday Recap
After a first half in which there was little attacking ingenuity on show from either side, this contest came alive in the second period.
The visitors dominated the ball for long spells and had arguably shaded the match in terms of opportunities. But Deportivo have a wonderful poacher in Perez, and he was alert in the 47th minute to turn home Fernando Navarro’s pinpoint cross.

The Deportivo man is making a strong case to be considered for the Spanish national squad this summer, as AS English noted with this statistic:
Las Palmas are a squad that have been impressive of late, though, and coach Quique Setien’s team continued to go about their business with purpose. Eventually they got their reward just before the hour mark.
Figueroa Cabrera Momo found Araujo with a lovely pass, and the forward arrowed a low shot perfectly into the bottom corner. The Riazor groaned, and with 30 minutes to go, the visitors were in the ascendency on the road again.
As noted here by OptaJose, Deportivo have been brittle at the back of late:
With 11 minutes remaining, Las Palmas grabbed the go-ahead goal they deserved. There was a fair share of luck about it, as Garcia’s deflected effort flew past Manu before he could react. But after continuing to press and probe, it seemed inevitable something would drop for the away side late on.

Deportivo almost snatched a point in the dying embers when Perez struck the crossbar from close range. But as the hosts piled forward in search of an equaliser, they were exposed on the counter, with Nabil El Zhar racing through and playing in Araujo for his second of the day.
Matteo Bonetti paid tribute to the performance of Setien’s side, who have now won four away games in a row:
Given their modest stature, to be 10th in the table and just two points adrift of 18th-place Malaga is a massive achievement for Las Palmas.
Just a month ago there were worries that this side could have been facing relegation to the second tier. But Setien has found a tremendous blend of intricacy and industry in recent weeks, making this campaign one to remember for the supporters of this humble football club.
Weekend Recap

Earlier this weekend the curse of the Anoeta struck again for league leaders Barcelona, blowing the title race wide-open as a result.
Mikel Oyarzabal bagged an early goal for Real Sociedad, who then withstood plenty of pressure from the visitors to snatch another win over the European champions—their fourth in a row at this venue in the league. The Catalan giants have now not won at the stadium since 2007 in La Liga.
Spanish football expert Rafael Hernandez thinks that this result could jolt Barcelona into life with some vital games to come:
They need to get their act together after two successive La Liga losses, with the two Madrid giants breathing down their neck.
Atletico Madrid are the team closest to the Blaugrana, as they secured a confident 3-1 win at Espanyol thanks to goals from Fernando Torres, Antoine Griezmann and Koke. Manager Diego Simeone’s side seem to have found a brilliant balance in their play at their moment and will be difficult to beat during the run-in.

As noted by Bleacher Report’s Karl Matchett, Barcelona at least have a superior head-to-head record, which could prove to be vital:
Real Madrid shouldn’t be discounted either. They won their sixth game in a row on Saturday, disposing of Eibar 4-0; they’re now four points behind their great rivals and one behind Atleti.
Elsewhere, a 2-0 win for Villarreal over Getafe saw them cement their spot in the top four, while Sevilla’s chances suffered a big hit, as the side lost 2-1 to Valencia, who relieved their relegation woes. Down at the bottom, the situation is looking bleak for Levante and Sporting Gijon, who occupy 20th and 19th, as they were both on the end of narrow losses.
