"I asked him after the game and he told me he had a knock to his back. Hopefully it's not serious," said manager Jurgen Klopp following Origi's substitute appearance at Bournemouth, per the Liverpool Echo's Neil Jones.
In-Form Origi Key to Reds' End-of-Season Push
Origi has impressed under the tutelage of Klopp and had netted four times in three appearances heading into the Bournemouth game, per WhoScored.com.
After joining up with the Liverpool squad this season for the first time, Origi had been in and out of the lineup. But during the back end of the 2015-16 term, the striker has shown a brilliant balance in his play when called upon to lead the line.
There are still areas in which the 21-year-old can improve, with his decision-making somewhat erratic. But the striker’s dynamism on the ball has caused a lot of defenders problems, in both the Premier League, the Capital One Cup and especially in the UEFA Europa League.
For the manager, Origi could potentially be the perfect option to lead the line. Not only does Klopp demand that his strikers be mobile, but the No. 9 is often the player who triggers the pressing style his teams are renowned for. Origi can tick those boxes.
While the former Lille man has typically been used as an impact option from the bench this term, he has increasingly forced himself into Klopp's first-team selection, starting both Europa League quarter-final ties with Borussia Dortmund.
If Liverpool are to go on and win that competition, you suspect they'll need both Origi and strike partner Daniel Sturridge fully fit, so Klopp will be delighted to hear of the Belgian's rapid return.
