NASCAR at Texas 2016 Results: Winner, Standings, Highlights and Reaction
Kyle Busch earned his second win of the 2016 Sprint Cup season Saturday night in the Duck Commander 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
It was his fourth checkered flag in a span of eight days after he won Friday's Xfinity Series race in addition to victories last week in the STP 500 and the Camping World Truck Series at Martinsville Speedway.
NBC Sports' Nate Ryan helped any fans who might have missed the action on the track over the past week catch up:
Busch lay low for most of Saturday's race. He didn't take the lead until the 301st lap. Once he climbed into the top spot, though, he was there to stay. Fox Sports: NASCAR provided a replay of the final lap:
The No. 18 car led the final 34 laps of the race and crossed the finish line in decisive fashion. Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished in second place, nearly four seconds behind the leader:

He isn't tiring of constantly winning. He made sure to enjoy a nice burnout before heading to Victory Lane, via NASCAR's Twitter account:
Busch also fired off some celebratory shots:
Weather delayed the start of the race by two hours. Following the lengthy postponement, NASCAR officials opted to start the race under caution so as to allow the track to heat up, thus benefiting the drivers. Once the green flag finally dropped, the night went off largely without a hitch, which isn't to say every driver was without issues.
Martin Truex Jr. and Carl Edwards combined to lead a total of 265 laps but finished in sixth and seventh, respectively. The beginning of the end for Truex came following a caution on the 293rd lap. Rather than heading to the pits, he stayed out on the track.
He seemed to know he was in trouble as the majority of the field pitted, per ESPN.com's Bob Pockrass:
As a result, Truex was powerless to stop Busch from jumping into the lead. As ESPN The Magazine's Ryan McGee joked, the No. 78 car could've used that pit stop:
Losing a race after leading the most laps is always frustrating. SB Nation's Jordan Bianchi thought the nature of Truex's finish will only compound that frustration:
Kevin Harvick's night was not as bad as Truex's, but he endured not one but two penalties on pit road during the race:
Harvick finished in 10th place and led one lap on the night. Crew chief Rodney Childers was apologetic after the race:
Luckily for Harvick and Truex, it's early in the season, so they can both put Saturday night in their rear-view mirrors and focus on the rest of the schedule. It's too early to begin panicking over the standings.
Similarly, Busch will likely cool off at some point. To have already banked two wins and secured a place in the Chase is a nice luxury this early in the season, but he should be careful not to peak at the wrong time. In the event Busch has a disappointing finish to the year, most fans will forget his hot start.
The Sprint Cup Series will head to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 500 on April 17. Matt Kenseth will enter as the defending champion.
Post-Race Reaction
Busch knew the restart with a little over 30 laps to go would be his opening to take the lead.
"If I could just get out in front of him [Truex], I knew I could protect the rest of the race," he said, per FoxSports.com's Tom Jensen. "They had a good restart, but we got a better one and I just had to get up on his door. He chose the inside and the inside has been winning the race all night long, but this time on the last restart it finally prevailed for us."
Truex explained what went wrong between he and his crew chief in deciding not to pit:
Truex wasn't the only driver let down by the result.
"We had a fast car, probably good enough to win," said Earnhardt, per USA Today's Brant James. "Martin probably had the best car, but the best car doesn't always win. Kyle did a great job on that restart. ... We finished about where we should have. But man, we need a win. We're running great every week, so I hope the fans are enjoying that. I had a blast driving the race car."
