Big Ten Superlatives: Part One, Offense
Quarterbacks
1) Best Pure Passer—Scott Tolzien (Wisconsin): Wisconsin is 4-0, and he leads the Big Ten in pass efficiency.
2) Best Scrambler—Terrelle Pryor (Ohio State): If his 110 yard performance against Toledo didn't show that he still has the wheels to be a threat in every game, then I don't know what to tell you.
3) Most Complete/Balanced—Tate Forcier (Michigan): Go ahead and tell him he is a true freshman, he probably won't listen. Whether he does it with his arm or legs, this kid can do it all.
4) Most Accurate—Mike Kafka (Northwestern): He has completed a surprising 72.2 percent of his passes after four games while attempting 33 passes per contest.
Running Backs
1) Best Downhill Runner—John Clay (Wisconsin): The guys is nearly 250 pounds and he can move. If you see him coming at you, then you should probably move too.
2) Best In Space—Ralph Bolden (Purdue): He has great athleticism, agility, and shows a little wiggle. This guy has another gear when he needs it.
3) Biggest Home-Run Threat—Carlos Brown (Michigan): I don't know maybe it's the spread, but this guy moves really well for a 210 pound man. He hits the hole quickly, can cut back, and only needs a crease to go the distance. He has three plays of 40 yards or more in the last two games.
4) Best Overall—Ralph Bolden (Purdue): At 6.2 per carry with 20 carries a game, Bolden has been the most complete in terms of production thus far.
Wide Receivers
1) Best Deep Threat—Dane Sanzenbacher (Ohio State): Although he only has 12 catches, he is averaging over 23 yards per catch with four touchdowns, including a 76 yard score.
2) Best Hands—Eric Decker (Minnesota): With 35 grabs and 499 yards, the kid can produce. His tough catch against Cal showed just how solid his concentration is as a possession receiver.
3) Best After Catch—Chaz Powell (Penn State): He has over 14 yards per catch, and have you seen what he can do with a bubble screen? He has excellent speed.
4) Best Overall—Eric Decker (Minnesota): Where has Regis Benn, um, been? Since this award isn't about potential talent, Decker is head shoulders above the rest. He can produce.
Tight Ends
1) Best Blocking—Jake Ballard (Ohio State): He is a mammoth and not a bad pass catcher, either.
2) Best Receiver—Garrett Graham (Wisconsin): Graham has really stepped up in place of Travis Beckum. His 16 catches and 200 yards are excellent numbers.
3) Most Complete—Kevin Koger (Michigan): He has been extremely versatile as a split end, tight end, flex receiver and an H-back. He is more than capable as a blocker yet has the speed to stretch the field. Also, the guy has three touchdown catches.
Offensive Linemen
1) Best Tackle—Bryan Bulaga (Iowa)
2) Best Guard—Justin Boren (Ohio State)
3) Best Center—David Molk (Michigan)
