The Masters 2016 Leaderboard: Saturday Scores, Results and Analysis
With Moving Day complete, Jordan Spieth leads the field by a single shot as he looks to become the first back-to-back winner of the Masters since Tiger Woods in 2001 and 2002.
With swirling, gusty winds once again wreaking havoc, two double bogeys in the back nine gave Spieth a 73 on Saturday, to finish Round 3 at three under par. With just four players in the red numbers due to the tough playing conditions, Spieth goes into Sunday's play with a one-shot lead on Smiley Kaufman and a two-shot advantage over Hideki Matsuyama and a two-time Masters champ, 58-year-old Bernhard Langer.
Langer's last championship came in 1993—the same year that Spieth was born. Their duel will be a battle of the generations.
For Rory McIlroy, it looks like his dream of a career Grand Slam will have to wait for another year. With his first birdie-free round since 2010, McIlroy played with Spieth in the final pairing for the first time ever on a weekend in a major, but shot 77 to slip to two over par.
If Spieth can prevail to earn his second green jacket on Sunday, the 22-year-old will become the fourth back-to-back Masters winner in tournament history, following in the footsteps of four-time champion Woods (2001-02), three-time champ Nick Faldo (1989-90) and six-time Masters winner Jack Nicklaus (1965-66).
