Masters 2016: Early Betting Odds from Vegas for Entire Field
Summer is on its way, and the official proof is that it's Masters week in Augusta, Georgia.
To many, the Masters is the best tournament of the year and the most important of all the majors. It's no surprise that this year's field does not include Tiger Woods (back), but even without the sport's once-dominant star, the field is crammed with big names who are capable of heroic play when the tournament begins Thursday.
Here's a look at the odds for the Masters field, courtesy of Odds Shark:
| Jordan Spieth | 7-1 | Needs to pick up his putting. |
| Jason Day | 7-1 | Appears to be in top form. |
| Rory McIlroy | 7-1 | His best game could do it. |
| Bubba Watson | 10-1 | Loves Augusta and performs well there. |
| Adam Scott | 10-1 | Former Masters winner having excellent year. |
| Rickie Fowler | 12-1 | Would become a superstar with a Masters win. |
| Phil Mickelson | 18-1 | Lefty would love his fourth green jacket. |
| Dustin Johnson | 20-1 | Needs to put it together for four rounds. |
| Justin Rose | 22-1 | Usually a contender in big tournaments. |
| Henrik Stenson | 25-1 | Sensational game tee to green. |
| Louis Oosthuizen | 25-1 | One of the game's best ball strikers. |
| Jimmy Walker | 33-1 | Has the game to win here. |
| Hideki Matsuyama | 40-1 | This would be a huge breakthrough. |
| Patrick Reed | 40-1 | Has all the tools, but can he put it together? |
| Brandt Snedeker | 40-1 | Has to show more toughness when he gets close. |
Start off with Jordan Spieth, who would love to defend the Masters title he won a year ago. Spieth has not had the same kind of season in 2015-2016, but he could put his early-season struggles behind him if he can assert himself at Augusta again.
While Spieth is still holding on to the No. 2 ranking in world, he has fallen to 13th in the FedEx Cup standings. Spieth has won one tournament this year, and he also has three top-10 finishes. He has won nearly $1.9 million to this point in the season.
Spieth knows how to rise to the occasion, and his ability to make clutch birdies has allowed him to become one of the game's best players. He is averaging 4.65 birdies per round, which ranks fourth on the PGA Tour. Spieth's accuracy is one of his biggest assets, and he ranks 12th in strokes gained from tee to green.
Jason Day ranks one spot above Spieth in the World Golf Ranking, and he's second in FedEx Cup points this season.

Day won the PGA Championship in 2015, and now he'll get a chance to win his second major in a row if he can tame Augusta and play with the consistency he displayed at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin, in August.
Day appears to be in excellent form, as he is coming off back-to-back victories in March at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play. Day has won more than $3.1 million this season.
Day's success is based on his all-around consistency. He ranks 20th in driving distance with an average mark of 304.1 yards off the tee, and he ranks third in strokes gained putting per round.
Spieth, Day and Rory McIlroy are the favorites to win the Masters at 7-1, according to Odds Shark. McIlroy is the third-ranked player in the world, but he ranks 36th in the FedEx Cup standings this year.
McIlroy has struggled on tour this year, as he has just two top-10 finishes in the seven events he's played. One of those was the WGC-Dell Match Play, an event that saw him finish fourth.
One of McIlroy's biggest problems this year has been his lack of accuracy off the tee. He ranks 145th in that category, which won't be good enough if he wants to get back to the No. 1 position in the world.
Bubba Watson and Adam Scott are next in line with 10-1 odds, while Rickie Fowler is 12-1, and Phil Mickelson is 18-1 as he pursues his fourth green jacket.

Scott, a former Masters winner, has played excellent golf this season. He is averaging 69.237 strokes per round, and he ranks first in FedEx Cup points.
Scott has two victories this season as well as two second-place finishes, and he has earned more than $4.3 million this year. He ranks second in strokes gained from tee to green, which is one of the primary reasons he is performing well on tour this year.
At 25-1, Louis Oosthuizen is not among the favorites, but he could be a solid contender.
Oosthuizen finished second to Day in the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play, and he hit the ball consistently well in the high-profile event.
Oosthuizen ranks 11th in the world and is 42nd in FedEx Cup points.
