Spencer Paysinger Re-Signs with Dolphins: Contract Details, Comments, Reaction
With the free-agent market largely settled at this point, veteran linebacker Spencer Paysinger has decided to re-sign with the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins confirmed Paysinger's signing Thursday on their official Twitter account, though terms were not disclosed.
Word of Paysinger's return to Miami had been common knowledge already, as he announced it in a humorous tweet on March 29:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The 27-year-old Paysinger appeared in 14 games for the Dolphins last year after spending four seasons with the New York Giants. He recorded eight tackles in limited duty at linebacker. He was, however, a valuable special teams asset with 15 tackles, tied for sixth in the NFL, per TeamRankings.com.
Per Pro Football Focus, Paysinger posted a grade of 73.9 in just 73 snaps in 2015. His extremely limited sample size does make it difficult to provide a full evaluation of his talents, but his grade ranks ninth among all free-agent linebackers and ahead of players like Karlos Dansby (72) and Rolando McClain (71.1).
Paysinger's main role for the Dolphins will be on special teams, but he also provides critical depth at linebacker for a team that needs it. The Dolphins did bring in Kiko Alonso to upgrade their middle linebacker corps, but they need players who can step in and play on the outside.
It's a low-risk deal for the Dolphins, who are already familiar with what Paysinger can do. He's going to be a versatile and valuable asset in Miami next season, even if his main contribution will come in an area of the game that doesn't often get noticed.
