WWE NXT Results: Winners, Grades, Reaction and Highlights from March 30
Wednesday night brought with it the final episode of WWE's NXT before this weekend's TakeOver: Dallas, and the men and women of the revolutionary brand looked to leave a lasting impression prior to the big night.
One week after attacking Bull Dempsey and leaving him lying in the ring with the Coquina Clutch, No. 1 contender to the NXT Championship Samoa Joe battled the Bull-Fit competitor. Would Joe pick up another victory to continue his roll into Dallas, or would he be upset, perhaps taking his opponent too lightly?
Speaking of Superstars headed toward golden opportunities, tag team contenders American Alpha were in action against the team of John Skyler and Corey Hollis. Their opponents at TakeOver, The Revival, were also in action as they competed against Steve Cutler and Tucker Knight.
With such a high-profile tag bout upcoming, would both stay focused enough to pick up one last victory prior to Friday's WWE Network spectacular?
Fans found out the answers to those questions and more on a jam-packed show that also featured Baron Corbin, Austin Aries and a war between Apollo Crews and Alex Riley.
American Alpha vs. John Skyler and Corey Hollis
1 of 5
Fresh off beating The Vaudevillains to become No. 1 contenders to the NXT Tag Team Championship, American Alpha returned to Full Sail University for an enhancement match against John Skyler and Corey Hollis.
It was all Jason Jordan and Chad Gable as they overwhelmed Skyler and Hollis. The heels did control for a brief moment before Gable wrestled back control of the match with a series of belly-to-belly suplexes. A hot tag to Jordan followed, and moments later, Grand Amplitude scored the victory for the babyfaces.
Result
American Alpha defeated John Skyler and Corey Hollis.
Grade

Analysis
The grade may appear low, but that can be accredited to the bout's squash nature more than anything.
This was great fun, as per usually with Jordan and Gable. They bring such energy and excitement to the shows that they can make the mundane incredibly entertaining.
Friday's title bout with The Revival could very well steal the show.
Baron Corbin vs. Michael Cuellari
2 of 5
Observant fans may recognize Michael Cuellari as the former QT Marshall from Ring of Honor. As the match would tell us, that was the only thing notable about this one.
Baron Corbin, just days from battling Austin Aries, tore through him and delivered End of Days for the impressive victory.
Result
Baron Corbin defeated Michael Cuellari.

Analysis
The Corbin squash matches are so much more entertaining and fun when they are used sparingly, as has been the case of late. Like the American Alpha squash that opened the show, this was quick and to the point, putting over The Lone Wolf's dangerous edge ahead of Friday's match with Aries.
Even if he does not defeat A-Double in Dallas, Corbin still looks like a main roster-ready big man who could make an instant impact if given the chance. It's a far cry from where he was a year ago.
The Revival vs. Steve Cutler and Tucker Knight
3 of 5
Unmoved by American Alpha's performance earlier in the show, NXT tag team champions The Revival took to the squared circle for a match with Steve Cutler and Tucker Knight.
Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder proved why they are champions, isolating Cutler for the majority of the match and wearing him down with their double-team moveset. They even weathered a late-match hot tag to Knight before putting him away with their finisher—The Shatter Machine.
Result
The Revival defeated Steve Cutler and Tucker Knight.
Grade

Analysis
Another solid, if unspectacular squash match that put over the tag champions strongly before Friday's title defense.
As usual, the champions were crisp between the ropes but continued to lack the personality necessary to click with fans. It is a serious flaw that will hold them back from achieving great things in NXT and beyond.
Apollo Crews vs. Alex Riley
4 of 5
Apollo Crews came to Johnny Gargano's aid last week and engaged Elias Samson in a staredown that suggests the two will be feuding going forward.
Wednesday night, he battled Alex Riley in a match that should have been significantly longer than it was.
After only two minutes of action, Crews delivered a sitout powerbomb for the pinfall victory.
Following the bout, Samson appeared on the stage and sang a song to Crews.
Result
Apollo Crews defeated Alex Riley.

Analysis
It is alarming to see Riley so soundly defeated in so short a period of time. He was never presented as much of a threat, pinned in just two minutes.
While we may be just two weeks in, the feud between Crews and Samson is hardly inspiring, especially when the villain finds the most efficient way of avenging embarrassment to be singing to his rival.
Bull Dempsey vs. Samoa Joe
5 of 5Samoa Joe wasted little time tearing through Bull Dempsey in what was the final appearance for the lovable babyface in NXT.
A flurry of offense from Joe and an enzuigiri kick set up the Coquina Clutch for the submission win.
After the bell, Joe refused to release the hold, sending a message to NXT champion Finn Balor. The champion hit the ring and brawled with Joe, spilling from the ring to ringside, all the way up to the announce position.
They broke free from containment once but were separated to close out the show.
Result
Samoa Joe defeated Bull Dempsey.

Analysis
The match was a quick squash that put Joe over as a relentless killer ahead of Friday's title bout.
The brawl after the bell was great and a strong way to put heat on the feud between Joe and Balor. It is about time, too, since booking has done little in the way of hyping the NXT Championship match for Dallas. If anything, so much emphasis was put on Joe and Sami Zayn's series, while Balor was shoved to the background.
This did just enough to give fans a reason to care about what should be a phenomenal main event match at TakeOver.
