Hood Matches Jazz Single-Game Record with 8 3-Pointers Made
Utah Jazz guard Rodney Hood put on a show in Monday's 123-75 blowout win over the Los Angeles Lakers, with his eight made three-pointers tying Jeff Hornacek's single-game franchise record, per NBA.com/Stats.
Even more impressive, the 23-year-old former Duke standout scored all 30 of his points before halftime, and he didn't need any free throws to boost his totals.
Hood made eight of his nine three-point attempts and 11 of his 13 field-goal attempts in a remarkably efficient shooting performance, also adding three rebounds and a block for good measure.
He likely would have broken Hornacek's franchise record if not for the fact that he was removed from the game for good with 10 minutes, 29 seconds remaining in the ugly blowout.
Hood ultimately fell just two points shy of his career-high mark of 32, which he set back in January in a win over the Memphis Grizzlies, making five of his 10 three-point attempts in what previously may have been his best NBA performance.
His development this season has helped the Jazz stay in the playoff race even as Derrick Favors, Gordon Hayward and Alec Burks have all missed significant time because of injuries.
Hood boasts averages of 14.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.2 blocks and 1.6 turnovers in 31.8 minutes per game, having started 71 of his team's 74 contests to date.
