Kell Brook vs. Kevin Bizier: Winner, Recap and Reaction
In front of his hometown fans in Sheffield, England, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) made quick work of an overmatched Kevin Bizier (25-3) on Saturday, finishing him by second-round knockout. It was a brutal, one-sided demolition of a mandatory challenger.
There wasn't much to analyze in this one.
Brook had better balance as well as harder and more accurate shots, and he had broken Bizier's spirit within the first two minutes of the fight.

Early in the second round, Brook dropped Bizier with a hard right hand. The latter fell into the ropes and appeared to look to his corner for a rescue, but the towel didn't come in. He got to his feet, but he wasn't upright for long.

Sensing a short night was at hand, Brook jumped on the wounded Bizier and put him down again. Bizier looked to his corner again as he struggled to get to his feet. His trainers didn't stop the fight, but referee Marcus McDonnell did.
There was no complaint from Bizier or his corner.
Brook has the look of a fighter who is worthy of consideration as one of the pound-for-pound best in the world. The undefeated 29-year-old still hasn't faced or beaten most of the elite fighters at 147 pounds (then again, the same can be said of lineal middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin), but Brook seems to be hungry for the next challenge.
He discussed his victory in this video from Matchroom Boxing, calling out Danny Garcia, Timothy Bradley Jr. and even Golovkin at a catchweight:
Critics can take exception to Bizier as an opponent for Brook, but former British cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew put the concept of a mandatory challenger into perspective:
Brook's best win thus far came over Shawn Porter in August 2014, a majority-decision victory that gave him the IBF crown. He's 3-0 since then and is looking to take his career to the next level.
Based on pure talent, Brook is elite, but we can't give him the stamp of approval until he's proved it against at least one more world-class opponent. Stay tuned for a big fight for Brook in the summer.
