Paul Scholes Says Manchester United Should Never Have Sold Danny Welbeck
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has hit out at the club's decision to sell Danny Welbeck to Arsenal.
The England striker left Old Trafford in September 2014, with manager Louis van Gaal preferring Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao as his forward options—the latter two having since left the club.
Injury has limited Welbeck's playing time this season, but he has scored three times since returning to the Gunners side in February. United have struggled in front of goal this term and have scored just three times in their last five games in all competitions.

Scholes told BT Sport (via Goal):
"[Welbeck] would walk into this team, without a shadow of a doubt, and he’s just been allowed to go. Every time I watch United I keep thinking of the players that have been allowed to leave the club. You’re scratching your head. I think Welbeck is the biggest example of that. He should have never, ever been allowed to leave this club.

With Van Persie, Falcao and Javier Hernandez all leaving Manchester United in the summer, the onus to score the team's goals was put on Wayne Rooney. But form and injury problems have limited the England captain to 14 goals in 32 games, while 20-year-old forward Anthony Martial has weighed in with 12 goals in 38 games.
