WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from March 16
Prior to the March 16 episode of the WWE Network's NXT, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable have journeyed through the tag team division, beating every tandem put before them and establishing themselves as one of the premiere duos in the sport.
To finally earn the championship opportunity they spent so long chasing, they would have to defeat former champions The Vaudevillains in a Number One Contender's match Wednesday night.
They did, en route to earning "winner" status for this week's broadcast.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
American Alpha were as energetic and fiery as ever as they dispatched of Aiden English and Simon Gotch in short order.
Gable continued to be the spark, the charismatic former amateur star who brought out the best in tag team partner Jordan, who has provided the fire in the form of an explosive in-ring presence. The partners compliment each other extremely well, and the reward for their hard work is within reach.
Tag team greatness now awaits them, presumably in Dallas, if they can get by Dash and Dawson.
April 1 should be a crowning moment for the dynamic tag team, should that be the date for the big championship showdown. If so, they will be among the biggest winners from that show, too.
Joining the young team as winners this week are fans of women's wrestling and an incoming star whose international reputation precedes him.
Then there are the losers, including the other tag team in the night's marquee match.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura
The fans inside the NXT Arena for Wednesday night's show gave the rest of the WWE Universe a taste of what they can come to expect when Shinsuke Nakamura takes to the ring at TakeOver: Dallas for his debut match against Sami Zayn.
They erupted as the King of Strong Style appeared on the video screen, sending a message to Zayn about their impending match.
Nakamura is one of the most captivating and compelling professional wrestlers in the industry, a star whose reputation is as strong as his in-ring work. The greeting he received just for appearing on a prerecorded cell phone video was amazing.
Imagine what it will be like when he steps through the curtain in Dallas for his first official match in a WWE ring, with the eyes of the wrestling world on him.
Losers: The Vaudevillains
Aiden English and Simon Gotch had been on a roll of sorts entering Wednesday's show, reverting back to their villainous ways and picking up impressive victories while doing so. After rebuilding the team, it was surprising to see them sacrificed for the sake of putting American Alpha over when the consensus was that Gable and Jordan already were the top contenders.
Their defeat essentially halts the momentum they had built to that point and leaves the division with only two championship-ready teams, especially if Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady are en route to the main roster.
English and Gotch have been so up-and-down, pushed then de-pushed, that one has to wonder how much longer that they can endure that booking before fans stop caring.
Winners: Fans of Women's Wrestling
The announcement of Bayley vs. Asuka for TakeOver: Dallas provides fans with the dream match they have anticipated from the moment the Japanese star arrived in NXT. Unarguably the two best wrestlers on the women's roster, their contest should be an extraordinary one. On paper, it even looks to be the best match the female competitors of NXT have ever delivered.
Bayley is the measuring stick for women's wrestlers in all of WWE while Asuka has yet to showcase the expansive moveset she has learned over the course of her career. Their match should be something special, an extraordinary display of athleticism by two of the best in the business.
Elsewhere on the show, fans got a taste of a nastier, meaner and more aggressive Emma as she bowled over poor Deonna Purrazzo, who has become the punching bag of sorts for the NXT women. The Australia-born Diva has been extraordinary since dropping the goofy babyface gimmick and becoming a heel, her partnership with Dana Brooke a revelation of sorts.
The announcement that she will battle Asuka on next week's show is a welcomed one, especially taking into consideration their match from London last December.
And then there is the tease of dissension between Eva Marie and Nia Jax. While a split may not be coming anytime in the immediate future, an arrogant and selfish Eva character is not likely to be all that forgiving of Jax's legdrop that essentially cost them Wednesday's match against Bayley and Asuka.
Fans of women's wrestling have to be loving NXT. The characters are unique, the wrestling is light years ahead of what was once the standard for females under Vince McMahon's rule and there are honest-to-goodness stories that fans can follow and invest themselves in.
The popularity of the female competitors in the sport has never been as high as it is now, and that is a testament to the work of NXT management and the women themselves.
And the fans are reaping the rewards each and every week.
