Charles Martin vs. Anthony Joshua: Tyson Fury to Help Champ Overcome Brit
Tyson Fury said he will help IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin prepare for his title defence against Anthony Joshua despite the fact that a defeat for the American would likely set up a lucrative unification clash for the Gypsy King.
The undefeated Joshua (15-0) will take on Martin (23-0-1) at London's O2 Arena on April 9 with the 29-year-old defending his title for the first time since winning the vacant IBF belt against Vyacheslav Glazkov in January.
A win for Joshua, 26, would likely set up a huge all-British heavyweight unification clash with WBA and WBO champion Fury, but the 27-year-old is still planning to give Martin some help for the fight, per Tim Hobbs of Sky Sports:
"They're having camp in Big Bear in California, and I would fancy it. Then again, do I help out a guy who could potentially take £10 million out of my hands—depending on how much I help him? Who is going to get a better sparring partner than me, though?
But you know what, I am going to help the guy out. When he comes to London a couple of weeks before the fight, I am going to go down and see him and give him a couple of hints, show him a few moves.
I am not going to spar him though because I could be fighting him next, once I've beaten [Wladimir] Klitschko again.
"
Fury claimed his belts—along with the IBF title that he was forced to almost immediately relinquish for failing to agree to a mandatory defence against Glazkov—by beating long-time champion Wladimir Klitschko in November.

The pair are set to meet again for the Manchester fighter's first defence, with June 4 reportedly "pencilled in" as the date for the rematch, per Kleine Zeitung (via the Daily Mirror's James Whaling).
If Joshua and Fury both win their respective clashes, the clamour for a unification clash in the UK will likely reach deafening levels.
Fury has already indicated he would be up for it:
Meanwhile, Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has stated his desire to get a clash with Fury made:
The 2012 Olympic gold medallist has become one of the most exciting heavyweights in the world following 15 consecutive knockout victories in his professional career.
His last outing in December against compatriot Dillian Whyte was a bruising encounter for the British heavyweight title, but Joshua eventually prevailed with a devastating seventh-round upper cut, per Laceup Boxing:
His fight against Martin will be his first shot at a world title and a stern test of his credentials—likely made tougher if Fury does indeed give Prince some pointers.
However, if Joshua can beat Martin, then he will become a legitimate and worthy opponent for Fury, and if the Gypsy King can beat Klitschko again, a bout between the pair will surely become inevitable.
