WWE SmackDown Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from March 10

Erik BeastonMar 11, 2016

Just 72 hours removed from a shocking betrayal of tag team partner AJ Styles, Chris Jericho took to the WWE SmackDown ring to explain his actions and, in the process, establish himself as the biggest winner of the March 10 broadcast.

Y2J berated the fans for turning their backs on him, tossing him aside in favor of Styles. He ran down his long list of accomplishments and questioned the audience for their blind dedication to The Phenomenal One before burning one of the thousands of T-shirts produced to commemorate the short-lived Y2AJ team.

After weeks of this writer questioning whether Jericho still had "it," he stormed into my living room Thursday night via USA Network and answered with a resounding "yes!"

His jealousy for Styles was apparent and will fuel their program heading into WrestleMania 32.

Prepared to show the world why he is considered one of the best wrestlers in the world, expect him to follow up his stellar promo from Thursday with an even better in-ring performance on the grandest stage known to professional wrestling.

Jericho was hardly the only winner coming out of this week's SmackDown broadcast. Joining him is a fellow former WWE champion (a man whose act has been described as Jericho-lite) and a newcomer hellbent on avenging an assault that robbed him of a lengthier reign as NXT champion.

On the loser side of things is a Total Diva who looked anything but smart following a decisive victory over Summer Rae.

Winner: The Miz

The most must-see Superstar on the WWE roster, at least in his own mind, The Miz continued his streak of extraordinary performances Thursday night as he hosted the latest installment of Miz TV. Guest Sami Zayn entered the arena to a fairly quiet reaction, as a great number of fans were unfamiliar with him or unsure why they should cheer for him.

Miz took care of that, peppering Zayn with backhanded compliments and generally being his most obnoxious supporter. From there, Miz teamed with Kevin Owens to battle the Montreal native and partner of Neville in a solid tag team bout that saw him take the pin but stand out with another excellent performance.

Despite all the attention of late going to McMahon family members, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar, few have been as consistently great with the time given to them as The Miz has been. He deserves an opportunity to shine on the WrestleMania card, and if Thursday's broadcast is any indication, he will get just that.

Loser: Brie Bella

Brie looked perfectly fine as she tore through Summer Rae in a rematch from Raw. What earned her "loser" status for this week's broadcast was the stupidity she showed after the match.

Keeping an eye on Lana to prevent a second sneak attack by the Ravishing Russian, Brie looked as though she would be the last Diva standing on Thursday's show. Then, she inexplicably launched herself across the ring for a running knee to the face of Summer. This opened her up for another Bella Buster courtesy of her rival.

First, why would Brie do something so heelish as attacking Summer Rae after the bell? Second, why would she do the one thing she was determined not to do by turning her back on Lana and opening herself up for another assault?

It was illogical booking that did nothing to help her gain support outside of the "Yes!" chants stemming from her husband's retirement.

Winner: Sami Zayn

An entire quarter of SmackDown was devoted to Sami Zayn and introducing him to the WWE Universe.

It was not easy, especially early during the Miz TV segment, but by the time he exploded into the squared circle off a hot tag from Neville during the opening match, fans had finally invested themselves in him.

At least a little.

Even better? He scored the win for his team, putting Miz away with the Helluvah Kick.

Zayn looked like a star—a performer on the receiving end of a tried-and-true push from WWE Creative that should generate him heat and a high-profile place on the card if he can hold up his end of the bargain. So far, he has. With a showdown with Kevin Owens (and others, potentially) at WrestleMania, Zayn could be looking at the most important stretch of his career.

Thursday night, he got things off to a great start.
