Brock Lesnar vs. Kevin Owens and Other Fresh WWE Feuds for 2016

The Doctor Chris MuellerMar 3, 2016

One of the main complaints WWE fans have is the company's lack of original feuds, which is why it's important for officials to come up with some fresh matchups for 2016.

2015 saw a number of NXT talents move to the main roster, but it still feels like we see the same people doing the same things every week.

Sure, we got some new feuds with John Cena vs. Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler vs. Tyler Breeze, but that's not enough. Sometimes we need to see top-tier stars mix it up with guys who are lower on the card.

This slideshow will look at some pairings we haven't seen in an extended program in the past and why they would make for some good storylines and matches.

Brock Lesnar vs. Kevin Owens

1 of 7

Let's get right to the pairing mentioned in the headline. Brock Lesnar has faced just about every top star in WWE since he returned a few years ago but has never gone up against Kevin Owens.

While these two men appear completely different on the surface, they have a few things in common. For one, they are both huge bullies.

Another common bond between them is the reactions they get from the crowd. Both men are supposed to be heels, but a large portion of the WWE Universe still cheers for them.

However, the most important thing they both bring to the table is the ability to do things most men their size wouldn't even attempt. Lesnar is a massive powerhouse who moves like a cruiserweight, and Owens is a potbellied brawler who can actually do a lot of high-flying moves.

Facing Lesnar at a big pay-per-view would be a great way to give Owens a boost and give the fans a match they would never forget.

AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler

2 of 7

As soon as AJ Styles officially signed with WWE, a slew of dream matches finally became possible. Styles has faced a few Superstars who put in time with TNA, but the majority of the top talent would be completely original opponents for The Phenomenal One.

One person Styles could tear the house down with is Dolph Ziggler. They are both epitomize technical ability and exciting offense, which would make for some incredible action.

Styles favors more high-flying moves, while Ziggler keeps things a bit more grounded, but they are both quicker than the blink of an eye.

The great thing is that neither of them would have to turn heel to make this program work. They don't even need a title to fight over. It could simply be a matter of them wanting to know who was the better wrestler.

The New Day vs. Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady

3 of 7

The New Day has feuded with every tag team WWE's main roster has to offer, but there is one duo from NXT who would make great opponents: Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady.

Amore and Big Cass are highly entertaining in and out of the ring, just like Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E. Put them together, and you are guaranteed to have some fun matches.

Add in Carmella, and things will only get better. She has grown into one of the best valets we have seen in years, and a lot of that comes from how compatible she is with Amore and Cassady. It would be hilarious to see her getting in Woods' face at ringside after he interfered on behalf of his team.

It seems like the tag team division is always in need of improvement, and adding Amore and Cass to the mix would certainly help make things a lot more interesting.

Cesaro vs. AJ Styles

4 of 7

When Cesaro eventually returns from injury, he is going to need something to do. He needs an opponent who is just as versatile as he is, and AJ Styles fits the bill perfectly.

Cesaro was starting to gain a lot of momentum in the months leading up to his unfortunate injury. The fans were firmly behind him, and he proved on more than one occasion that he was one of the most skilled performers on the roster.

Seeing Styles and Cesaro in a series of matches would make for some great entertainment. Not only would they steal the show every time they stepped into the ring, but they could also force each other to up their games.

Add in a title like the United States or Intercontinental Championship, and you have the recipe for a feud that could carry the midcard division for months.

Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins

5 of 7

It seems like it's just a matter of time until Sami Zayn is called up to the main roster. He has faced some of the best wrestlers in the world, and one Ring of Honor alum people would love to see him wrestle is Seth Rollins.

Rollins is currently out with an injury but is rehabbing hard to get back as soon as possible. If WWE doesn't want to put him right back into the hunt for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, he'll need an opponent who is capable of matching his level of skill.

Since Rollins is already an established heel, the storyline could be a simple cut-and-paste formula. Their matches would be more than enough to carry the feud through a few pay-per-views.

WWE needs to put compatible wrestlers together to create solid entertainment, and the pairing of Rollins and Zayn could help showcase why WWE is still considered the big leagues of pro wrestling.

Bray Wyatt vs. Brock Lesnar

6 of 7

We saw signs of a Lesnar-Wyatt feud around The Royal Rumble, but nothing seems to have materialized. Once Lesnar is done with Dean Ambrose, Wyatt should be his next rival.

Wyatt is a unique talent, but WWE has consistently dropped the ball with him when it comes to proper booking.

It seems like every time he picks up a little steam, he gets derailed by a loss to a major opponent. Even if he had help from his clan of followers, a win over someone like Lesnar would do wonders for his career.

Just thinking about the back-and-forth promos between Wyatt and Paul Heyman should be enough to get any fan excited about a feud like this.

Randy Orton vs. Brock Lesnar

7 of 7

Randy Orton might be on the shelf at the moment, but it's never too early to start looking at options for his first feud after he returns.

Orton and Lesnar came up together through WWE's old developmental system, Ohio Valley Wrestling, but they have never had a real program.

Ever since Lesnar returned to WWE, Orton has been on the shortlist of top stars he's needed to face, and 2016 feels like the right time to make that happen.

If Orton is ready to compete by SummerSlam, this would be an ideal matchup for one of the main events. The storyline could be something as simple as both men claiming to be the best wrestler in WWE and having a match to see who's right.

These seven feuds could help spice things up, but there are so many more combinations management could come up with. Who do you want to see have their first real storylines in WWE?
