WWE WrestleMania 2016: Stars Under the Most Pressure at PPV

Aaron BowerMar 1, 2016

With tens of thousands of people in attendance and millions around the world watching from home, WWE WrestleMania provides more pressure for stars than at any other time of the year.

It's the show where the biggest storylines reach a conclusion and the majority of the wrestling world is watching.

Handling that pressure is undoubtedly a tough task, and for this year's show, with a depleted roster on its hands, WWE will be relying on some untested talent to carry the biggest pay-per-view in wrestling on April 3.

Here's a handful in particular who will have big expectations on their shoulders as WrestleMania 32 inches closer.

Sasha Banks

1 of 4

Even though there was no conclusive finish to Sasha Banks' match against Becky Lynch on Raw this past Monday, don't expect that to stop The Boss from making it to WrestleMania.

She's emerging as the real shining light of the Divas division at the moment. Her face turn provoked a huge reaction from those in attendance at January's Royal Rumble pay-per-view, and there will be a similar reception for her at WrestleMania.

Many expect her to beat Charlotte and set up a new era for the Divas Championship, so she will be under pressure to perform and kick off any potential title reign with style.

From there, the Divas division could go in a whole host of directions. Sasha vs. Becky can be explored, existing talent like Paige and Naomi could come into the mix or there could even be a call-up for Bayley.

And Bayley vs. Banks would be a simply unmissable feud on the main roster.

The New Day

2 of 4

With its reign as WWE Tag Team Champions now approaching 200 days, there is big pressure on The New Day to deliver at WrestleMania.

That reign could well come to an end before then, but it would be surprising if WWE didn't let one of its most popular groups defend the belts at the biggest show of the year.

Whether the heels face AJ Styles and Chris Jericho or another team is up in the air, but The New Day have big expectations to pull something out of the hat.

The group is still providing plenty of entertainment on screen, but you feel WWE needs to decide pretty soon who it wants The New Day's next big challengers to be. Then we can see some real chemistry and a really entertaining feud for the champions at WrestleMania.

Brock Lesnar

3 of 4

For weeks on end, it seemed that Brock Lesnar was going to be feuding with anyone but Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania.

After their Fastlane match, you assumed that would be it between the two, but as things have turned out, we've actually got the makings of something pretty exciting for WrestleMania.

But Lesnar is under pressure to deliver in a way that, even if he wins, keeps Ambrose looking strong heading out of the show. Lesnar will likely take a break, owing to his part-time schedule with the company, so he will also need a big performance to depart WWE programming with a bang.

Unlike the other candidates on this list so far, Lesnar is accustomed to dealing with pressure inside the ring. Expect him to deliver, but with a roster so heavily depleted due to injuries, the spotlight will be on Lesnar more than ever before.

Roman Reigns

4 of 4

This one certainly ranks as a fairly obvious inclusion.

He just can't get over with WWE fans, and his rivalry with Triple H is now threatened to be overshadowed by The Game's tussles with Dean Ambrose.

Roman Reigns needs a night to remember at WWE, but the onus is also on the company to make sure it books him correctly.

Having him go over a 14-time world champion too easily or too predictably will do nothing for Reigns. This needs to be a vicious and bloody battle in which Reigns looks legitimately beaten on a number of occasions.

He should fight back from the dead and eventually prevail after plenty of doubt has been placed in the minds of WWE fans.

Reigns is under pressure more than any other star at WrestleMania. WWE has a spot at the head of the company with John Cena's absence, and if Reigns can deliver at the biggest show of the year, he may begin to look like the guy who could fill it.
