AJ Styles, Chris Jericho's Best Booking Options for WrestleMania 32

Tom ClarkMar 1, 2016

AJ Styles and Chris Jericho are the dream team of WWE.

The two legendary stars were at war until very recently, but the cease-fire is in effect, and fans are benefiting from it. This is fun, it's exciting, and it's delivering on every level.

But the fun and games will have to end at some point because WrestleMania 32 is quickly approaching.

Eventually each guy's path to April 3 will begin, and whether they work together or against someone else, fans will surely see them in top form. AJ and Jericho are pros; they demand the best out of themselves and their opponents. They give it all in the ring and always have.

WrestleMania 32 will be no different.

The clock is ticking, and as April 3 draws closer, each guy's scenario will become clear. WrestleMania needs talented workers in prime spots, and there's no better place to start than AJ Styles and Chris Jericho.

AJ Styles

This is AJ's first WrestleMania, and that fact alone is enough to get fans excited.

The options for him are wide-open, and WWE is full of talent that can give him a good match. The only question is, who is the best fit?

Kevin Owens is at the top of the list for many fans, and it's an intriguing choice to be sure. Owens is the Intercontinental champion, which means AJ could target his first title in WWE. This would be a clash of the independent stars, much in the same vein as CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan.

Both Styles and Owens know what it's like to pay dues and struggle in companies that do not necessarily have their best interests at heart.

They also know what it means to work hard in the ring and get over. They each deserve a spotlight at WrestleMania, and that spotlight could come against each other.

Kevin Owens

Kalisto could perhaps be considered a long shot for AJ but one that is perhaps even more intriguing than Owens.

Kalisto versus AJ could be one of those matches that fans demand to see on a weekly basis. The chemistry these two would have could be huge, and they would give the kind of match that would leave fans wanting more.

As with KO, Kalisto has championship gold around his waist, and that is another great drawing point for AJ.

WWE could go the more traditional route with AJ and book him against a veteran like Alberto Del Rio, but there may not be much long-term value in that. Styles should have a win at Mania, and while winning over respected talents like Del Rio is good, there may not be enough build time for that match to happen.

AJ needs an opponent who can keep up with him and give him the best match possible.

Chris Jericho

Jericho also needs an opponent who can give him a good match, but he's also very capable of giving a good match as well.

Y2J has been in the business of getting younger talent over in recent years. From Fandango to Bray Wyatt to Owens himself, Jericho is constantly giving back to the new generation. The New Day is headlining that new generation right now.

It's been obvious to many fans that the team called Y2AJ is building to a feud with The New Day, and that feud will likely be for the WWE Tag Team Championships.

Jericho and Styles look great together, and there could be perhaps no better way to capitalize on that than to put tag team gold around their waists. It would be a nice addition to Jericho's legacy, and it would be great for Styles' growing WWE legacy.

Of course Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods are not the only younger talents available.

Tyler Breeze is a younger talent, a fresh face on WWE's main roster. He's the kind of guy Jericho could work with and help elevate to the next level. Any one of The Social Outcasts could be a good pick for Jericho, and if WWE decided to go another route, anyone from The League of Nations would be a good fit as well.

Jericho can work with anyone and can get anyone over. His options for WrestleMania are as open as AJ's.

AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho

Styles and Jericho may indeed be a dream team but that dream may not last long.

It's inconceivable to many that Jericho could just suddenly drop his ego as quickly as he did. In a matter of moments, Jericho went from being the guy pushing AJ to his limits and demanding his best, to being his new best friend.

Jericho has much more of a competitive edge than that.

At some point, that edge will surely come out. The two are booked against The New Day for the tag titles on the upcoming March 7 edition of Monday Night Raw, and while there could be new champs crowned, the exact opposite may happen.

Y2AJ may be on the verge of getting the pin when Jericho does the unthinkable and turns his back on Styles.

Fans have been reeled in with this new partnership, and right now, they've likely been very trusting of what they've seen. That would make a heel turn mean even more than usual and would renew the rivalry between them.

That rivalry would finally be settled at WrestleMania 32, when AJ and Jericho face off in a ladder match.

It would be a dynamic and fitting way to end this feud. It would also give each guy the best platform possible to show off and to get over as only they can.
