WWE WrestleMania 32: AJ Styles and Stars Deserving Biggest Pushes on Road to PPV

Aaron BowerFeb 26, 2016

Considering it is the biggest pay-per-view on its calendar, WWE has to ensure that it pushes the right people properly ahead of WrestleMania each and every year.

WrestleMania 32 is slowly coming together despite a plethora of injuries to the company's top talent—but there is still work to be done. If the company pushes the right people properly, it can still ensure that WrestleMania goes off with a bang.

Here are three stars in particular whom WWE should look to give a well-earned push in the coming weeks.

AJ Styles

If there were any doubts about AJ Styles' ability inside the ring, they surely disappeared at Fastlane 2016.

His match with Chris Jericho was perhaps the standout bout of the whole night, with Styles emerging victorious in a brilliant match.

His plans for WrestleMania haven't yet become clear—or you would hope not, at least, given how his most recent matches have involved him teaming with Chris Jericho against The New Day.

Styles is better than that and should now be in line for a big push from WWE to help his first WrestleMania be one to remember.

With so much top talent on the sidelines, the company could be on to something if it pushes Styles properly in the coming weeks.

Kevin Owens

Without repeating the point over and over again, WWE's lengthy injury list is cause for concern. However, it has also opened the door for some other talents to establish themselves as real stars at a difficult time for the company.

Kevin Owens fits that description to perfection. He's won back the Intercontinental Championship he lost to Dean Ambrose a few months ago, and with Ambrose fighting Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania, Owens needs a challenger worthy of the momentum he's gained lately.

AJ Styles would be a great fit—and you sense there's some unfinished business between the two after Owens eliminated Styles from the Royal Rumble match last month.

WWE should attempt to set Owens' WrestleMania feud in stone as a matter of urgency, as giving him and his opponent a big push could create one of the standout rivalries of the entire show.

Whether it's on the microphone or in the ring, Kevin Owens has consistently delivered recently. He now deserves a major push to get him ready for WrestleMania.

The Dudley Boyz

Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley may stand out as two strange inclusions here—but the explosion their heel turn caused a few weeks ago should have set them up for a big run in the tag division.

Although it wasn't the biggest heel turn WWE is ever likely to see, it still felt like a new start for them after their babyface run had gone stale following their return to the company.

When they turned on The Usos a few weeks ago, it should have been the catalyst for WWE to push the duo into the frame for a run at the Tag Team Championships, but that just hasn't happened.

Instead, the veterans have been shuffled into lazy matches that make little sense and which give them no direction. There's still time for their fortunes to change, though, and with six weeks until WrestleMania, The Dudley Boyz could still realistically get a shot at the belts at WrestleMania.

A lack of clarity over whether The New Day is a babyface or heel act has probably harmed them, though. The three looked like solid heels until Fastlane, where they ended up dancing and mixing with Edge and Christian following their segment in the middle of the ring.

If WWE is looking for a heel team to challenge The New Day at WrestleMania, surely The Dudley Boyz are a better option than The League of Nations?
