Friday Recap

Holman came into Friday with just a one-shot lead over a group of six players on six under par, but he wasted little time in stretching out his advantage.
Back-to-back birdies on the par-five third and par-three fourth got him off to a flying start, and he picked up another shot on six to reach the turn in 32.
Another shot picked up on 13 was immediately handed back with his first bogey of the week at 14, but Holman then went birdie-birdie-birdie from 15 and finished the day on a huge high.
It was the 24-year-old's putting that made the difference on Friday, per the European Tour:
Only Bland stopped Holman taking a comfortable advantage into the weekend as he shot an immaculate round of 65.
Playing in one of the last groups of the day, the Englishman had a solid opening nine holes—he started on the 10th—as he birdied the par fives at 13 and 15 to go out in 34.
But it was on the way home that Bland really made his gains, picking up three consecutive birdies from the ninth before claiming a three on the par-four eighth.
He has still yet to bogey a single hole after two rounds at the Royal Selangor Golf Club, and he will undoubtedly remain in the mix over the weekend.
Willett led the way early on Friday as he moved atop the leaderboard on his own thanks to birdies on 12, 13 and 16 having started on the 10th.
Bogeys on 18 and seven blotted his scorecard slightly, but a terrific putt for birdie on the fifth meant he finished the day with a solid round of 69, per the European Tour:
It was a particularly impressive round from the Englishman given that he was clearly suffering out on the course:
Tabuena was also nursing an illness, but he managed a bogey-less round of 68 to go with his 66 from Thursday. A long putt on the fourth sealed his third birdie of the day, per the Asian Tour:
A couple of high-profile players did not survive for the weekend as Kiradech Aphibarnrat and former world No. 1 Martin Kaymer missed the cut.
But the quality on show at the top of the leaderboard is still immense and Saturday's action will be vital in deciding who is crowned champion at the end of the week.
