Liverpool Transfer News: Jurgen Klopp Talks Attracting New Players, Top Rumours
Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool are still a "big name in European football," one that players want to join. But the Reds' manager has cautioned that some targets have their heads turned by greater money on offer in Manchester.
The Anfield gaffer needs to retool his rebuilding squad this summer and sounds confident about bringing major talents to Merseyside, per Goal's Peter McVitie:
"Liverpool is a big name in European football and for sure there will be a few players who will say 'I want to play there'.
Well, until they get another offer from another club with a similar history and more money!
But it's 40 miles away from Liverpool so I can live in Manchester and play there and if I want to go to Liverpool I can go there instead.

The idea of Liverpool as still a major name on the continent may be contentious to some. After all, the club hasn't won a league title since 1990 and last lifted the European Cup in 2005.

Yet, in terms of overall history, there's no doubt Liverpool still boast some pulling power. A passionate fanbase is part of the appeal, as is a manager with Klopp's reputation and pedigree.
The German won a pair of Bundesliga titles with Borussia Dortmund and also took the club to a UEFA Champions League final. As much as his achievements, Klopp's playing style, one based on high-octane pressing and plenty of pace and perceptive movement in forward areas, is also likely to appeal to potential targets.
Lucas Moura Talks up Philippe Coutinho
One such mooted target, and one Klopp will hope will continue resisting the lure of Manchester, is Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian winger Lucas Moura. He's been linked with a summer move to Anfield, according to Italian source ITA Sport Press (h/t Metro's Tom Olver): "ITA Sport Press say the Reds are ready to battle Manchester United to sign the Brazilian and have the economic resources to fund such a move."

Moura is also apparently a target for fellow Premier League side "Arsenal and a whole host of elite European clubs."
Given Klopp's comments about Manchester, the idea of battling United for a player's signature may make Liverpool nervous. Yet, Moura has already indicated he's previously rejected United once, per Squawka's Greg Johnson: “It was honestly my choice to join PSG. I have all respect for Manchester United, a great club with more tradition than Paris Saint-Germain, but I really liked the project PSG showed me.”
In more good news for potential suitors, including Liverpool, Johnson also stated Moura expressed his desire to one day play in England's top flight: “It’s a dream for any player having the opportunity to play in the Premier League. Everybody knows it is the most competitive league in the world. It’s really great to follow it, as you can’t predict who is going to win the trophy."
Better still, the tricky winger has also talked up fellow Brazilian and Liverpool schemer Philippe Coutinho, according to another Squawka article from Johnson: “I’m a big fan of Coutinho. He’s one of the biggest talents of Brazilian football—a real world-class player in my opinion. He’s showing his quality in Liverpool and deserves all the credits for what he’s been doing.”

The idea of Liverpool signing Lucas is an interesting one. He's a mercurial player but one blessed with lightning pace, excellent control and a fierce shot.
Those are all qualities that would flourish in the fluid, fast-breaking front three Klopp loves to emphasise. A trio of forwards helped Liverpool rip Aston Villa apart in a recent 6-0 Premier League win, per BBC Sport's, Mandeep Sanghera.
Strikers Daniel Sturridge and substitute Divock Origi both found the net, while Coutinho and fellow Brazilian Roberto Firmino provided excellent support. Football Insider's Wayne Veysey waxed lyrical about the Sturridge, Coutinho and Firmino trio: "...their movement and combination play was outstanding."

Moura has the natural flair to add something extra, notably width, to a group like this. At his best, he's a player who excites fans, and that makes him a target Liverpool must consider.
While he's rarely been the most consistent during his time in the French capital, signing Moura would still be a statement from Klopp, one that would help prove his claims about the Anfield club's pulling power are true.
