Evening Session
The upsets continued during the evening session of the Shoot-Out, as tournament favourite Trump, current world champion Bingham, Ebdon and Murphy all suffered shock losses in Round 2.
Finland's Robin Hull barely allowed Trump any time on the table, playing some smart positional shots to grab a 46 break on his way to a 70-6 win. The Ace in the Pack missed one long pot and left a red open with a poor safety, and before long, the frame was over.
Bingham suffered a similar fate in the first match of the evening, as Lawler started his break with a ridiculous fluke and suddenly found himself in a promising position, per World Snooker:
From that point, he cruised to an easy win, as Bingham barely left his seat throughout the match. The same happened to Murphy, as Zhou Yuelong stole the show with a score of 85.
The 17-year-old, who made the quarter-finals of the Champion of Champions tournament last year, is widely regarded as one of the top young prospects in snooker, and he sure showed why on Saturday. So did Luca Brecel, the young Belgian who is expected to enjoy a breakout year in 2016.
Brecel knocked out China's Xiao Guodong in a tight affair, displaying some tremendous long-potting to secure his spot in the next round.
Ali Carter continued his fine form with a one-sided win over Peter Lines, and David Morris took care of Ebdon, who worked his way past Barry Hawkins in Round 1. Robert Milkins left it very late to get past Mark Allen, grabbing the points required on the final black.
In the final match of the day, in-form Ben Woollaston knocked out defending champion White to complete a day of wild upsets.
Afternoon Recap
Gerard Greene took a flying start against Trump, but the Ace in the Pack put together a superb break of 51 to take the win inside of 10 minutes and move on to the next round.
The 26-year-old made a key shot toward the side pocket to set up the break, avoiding a lengthy safety battle with one of the most experienced players on the tour.
Grove Snooker, who manages Trump, couldn't help but notice his sponsor for the occasion:
Former Shoot-Out winner Hawkins never had a chance against the meticulous Ebdon, who managed the clock brilliantly and kept the Hawk off the table for the majority of the match.
Ebdon impressed with some smart potting, forcing Hawkins to watch as the former world champion took a big lead and never looked back.
The Shoot-Out is one of the most unusual tournaments on the snooker calendar, and while the players usually start taking it more seriously in the latter rounds, there's always room for fun and games during the first days.
No one had more fun than Dechawat Poomjaeng, who only made a single shot in his loss against Rod Lawler. As shared by World Snooker, it was some shot:
Afterwards, he stole the show with the best post-match interview of the day:
In-form Kyren Wilson edged Li Hang with some excellent break-building, and last year's semi-finalist appears a strong bet to once again push for the title.
Fu didn't have many chances to show his quality in a 53-38 loss against Robert Milkins, and Anthony McGill survived a nail-biter against Wenbo.

The closest match of the day saw Thepchaiya Un-Nooh survive a late rally from Anthony Hamilton, the kind of finish the Shoot-Out was made for. With less than a minute on the clock and his lead seemingly safe, Un-Nooh powered the blue off the table, allowing Hamilton to place the cue ball anywhere he wanted.
Needing all three remaining colours with ample time, he found himself on the wrong side of the pink, ending a furious comeback.
The action will continue on Saturday with Round 2, with the tournament coming to an end on Sunday.
