Pat Haden Taken to Hospital After Receiving Medical Attention on USC Campus
Outgoing USC athletic director Pat Haden reportedly required medical attention on Feb. 10 outside Heritage Hall on the school's campus.
Kelly Reinke, a reporter for the school's Annenberg TV News, posted a photo of the scene:
Tim Tessalone, USC's sports information director, confirmed paramedics transported Haden to a local hospital for further evaluation and described Haden as "alert and talking" as he was being examined, per the Los Angeles Times' Gary Klein and Lindsey Thiry.
Haden released a statement after being released from the hospital:
USC released a statement on Feb. 10 stating he is in stable condition and would be undergoing additional medical testing. Klein and Thiry reported Haden would undergo a "unspecified procedure."
The Orange County Register's Rich Hammond compared Wednesday's episode to Haden's medical scare last October before the Trojans were set to play Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Tessalone announced at the time Haden felt light-headed and went back to the team's locker room to be examined, per ESPN.com's Kyle Bonagura. A day later, Haden tweeted that he was feeling much better.
On Oct. 30, a few weeks after the Notre Dame game, Haden relinquished his duties on the College Football Playoff selection committee, citing medical reasons. He announced on Feb. 5 he'd be stepping down as USC AD, effective June 30, per Klein and Nathan Fenno of the Los Angeles Times.
