Real Madrid Transfer News: Liverpool Want Jese Rodriguez, Top Rumours

Rob BlanchetteFeb 9, 2016

Real Madrid attacker Jese Rodriguez has been targeted by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, and the German coach wants to bring the player to Anfield in the summer.

Spanish newspaper Sport (h/t Charlie Phillippe of the Express) claimed Klopp has "asked his board" to approach Los Blancos, with the player holding a £23.2 million valuation at present.

The 22-year-old has failed to hold down a regular starting spot at the Bernabeu and has "become frustrated by his lack of action this term," per Phillippe. Klopp is believed to see the Spain under-21 international as a potential goalscoring asset to his side and is "willing" to meet Real president Florentino Perez's valuation of the talent.

Jese has risen through the ranks with the Galacticos—joining in 2007—and has impressed when given first-team opportunity, but he has found game time difficult to attain.

Here is a video of the player's best moments for his club:

The attacking midfielder has found the net twice and provided two assists in 14 La Liga appearances this term, according to WhoScored.com, but he has started in only four games.

Madrid are blessed with a wealth of striking talent in the Spanish capital, and it appears coach Zinedine Zidane needs to balance his bench with improved defensive options.

ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan recently questioned Zidane's use of the player:

In other news, details of David De Gea's failed move to Real have been leaked, with contractual details being published on whistle-blowing website Football Leaks (h/t Danny Collins of the Sun.)

Documentation reportedly shows the deal was worth £66 million to the Spain international goalkeeper, but a broken fax machine scuppered the late move.

Collins wrote:

"

The 25-year-old agreed to an eye-watering £9.13m salary in the Spanish capital on a six-year deal.

On top of that, the £30m-rated stopper would have pocketed a £8.4m signing-on fee plus add-ons to take the bumper deal to £66m.

But to pull out of the deal would have cost De Gea £387m-a-year for each year of the contract.

"

The Sun shared a copy of the contract, via their official Twitter feed:

Both clubs blamed each other for the collapse of the deal for the stopper who is now widely regarded as the best in the world.

However, United explained their side of the story in a club statement, per Collins:

"

The fact that Manchester United filed the papers on time was acknowledged by the Football Association, who offered to support that claim in any discussions with Fifa. The club offered this assistance, as well as its own time-stamped documents, to Real Madrid but they have chosen not to go down this route.

"

Madrid are tipped to finally get their man in the summer after a club spokesman reportedly told the Telegraph the Spanish giants are ready to tempt De Gea again at the end of the campaign (h/t the Daily Star's Chisanga Malata).

Keylor Navas has performed to a high standard in the Real net this season, but the opportunity to finally land De Gea's talents will not be missed by Perez.

The goalkeeper is one of only a handful of No. 1s in the world who could be viewed as a genuine Galactico, and United's fall from grace over the past two years should see the Spaniard keen to return to his hometown.

De Gea has developed into a world-class talent during his time at Old Trafford, and Real will exploit United's downturn in fortunes to sign the player.
