Jordan Norwood Breaks Super Bowl Record for Longest Punt Return vs. Panthers
Denver Broncos wide receiver Jordan Norwood entered the record books in the second quarter of Super Bowl 50 Sunday night when he duped the Carolina Panthers coverage unit and returned a Brad Nortman punt 61 yards deep into enemy territory.
According to the Charlotte Observer's Joe Person, Norwood's speedy display represented the longest punt return in Super Bowl history.
Norwood's return was particularly sensational because he emerged from a crowd and scampered across the field and down the right sideline, as NFL on ESPN documented:

The return set up a field goal that put Denver up 13-7 midway through the second quarter, and CBSSports.com's Zach Harper noted it was about time a Norwood broke through following Scott Norwood's missed field goal in Super Bowl 25:
Beyond the tactical circumstances, the record-setting play was improbable because Norwood returned just six punts for 51 yards during the regular season, according to Pro-Football-Reference.com.
Had it not been for the supreme effort of defensive end Mario Addison on a chase-down tackle, the Broncos very well could have secured a 17-7 lead.
