Super Bowl Performers 2016: List of National Anthem, Halftime Show Entertainment
Poor Coldplay.
One day before the British rock band was set to headline the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, Beyonce lit the Internet on fire with one of her patented surprise singles.
The pop star accompanied “Formation” with a music video, too. Check it out below (Warning: NSFW language):

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Entertainment Tonight confirmed that Queen Bey would perform the new hit when the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers head to their locker rooms.
We already knew Beyonce was going to join Coldplay. But now, she’s commandeered the entire performance.
ESPN’s Jane McManus put it best:
ESPN’s Jemele Hill captured everyone’s reaction when “Formation” plays, too:
Bruno Mars, who was reported to have a role at the Super Bowl back in September by ET, confirmed he would join Coldplay and Beyonce:
Mars hosted the show in 2014, and it was second only to Katy Perry’s 2015 performance as the most-viewed ever.
Beyonce put on an epic performance in 2013:
Adding Mars and Beyonce doesn’t shine a great light on how the public received Coldplay as the headliner. While we can't dispute the band’s success, its music lacks party appeal.
Bleacher Report polled current and former players around the league, and the verdict was overwhelming.
It turns out the league is just one big “Beyhive.”
Coldplay recently teamed up with Beyonce on a song called “Hymn for the Weekend,” though, which will be a smooth way to transition between two totally different acts.
Despite Coldplay being listed as the headliner, expect Mars to steal the spotlight and Beyonce to create her own.
Watch the video above of her Super Bowl 47 performance if need be, but know this: Beyonce is nobody’s warm-up act.
National Anthem

Before Beyonce takes over, Lady Gaga will get things stared.
The “Born This Way” pop star will open the game by singing the national anthem. Odds Shark has the over/under set at two minutes, 20 seconds.
For some context, here’s how long the past 10 singers of “The Star-Spangled Banner” took:
| Super Bowl 40 | Aaron Neville and Aretha Franklin | 2:08 |
| Super Bowl 41 | Billy Joel | 1:30 |
| Super Bowl 42 | Jordin Sparks | 1:54 |
| Super Bowl 43 | Jennifer Hudson | 2:10 |
| Super Bowl 44 | Carrie Underwood | 1:47 |
| Super Bowl 45 | Christina Aguilera | 1:54 |
| Super Bowl 46 | Kelly Clarkson | 1:34 |
| Super Bowl 47 | Alicia Keys | 2:35 |
| Super Bowl 48 | Renee Fleming | 1:54 |
| Super Bowl 49 | Idina Menzel | 2:04 |
| Super Bowl 50 | Lady Gaga | TBD |
Only Alicia Keys exceeded 2:20, and her performance was the longest of all time.
So yeah, it’s a tall task.
But Lady Gaga isn’t the type of entertainer who sticks to the textbook. She does things her way—even if that means wearing meat.
While the league will likely not allow her to don something of that nature, it’s hard to imagine the Mother Monster not bringing some sort of…twist.
What that twist could be is totally unknown. It’s really a shot in the dark. But after fading out of the national spotlight until recently with American Horror Story, Lady Gaga will want to get everyone talking again.
Side note: Does no one remember this song?
You have to wonder if Gaga will stick around and take the mic at halftime during Beyonce’s—wait, no—Coldplay’s halftime show. After all, Destiny’s Child had an onstage reunion in 2013.
Would that be too many cooks in the kitchen? Possibly.
Or it could make what should be a wild show even wilder.
